Job Summary:
AXS is a company that connects fans with the artists and teams they love, selling millions of tickets to various events each year. They are seeking a Database Engineer II to design, implement, and maintain scalable data solutions, collaborating with teams to optimize databases and ensure performance and security.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design, implement, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Aurora, MongoDB, etc.).
โ€ข Integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines to enable automated schema migrations, rollback, and testing.
โ€ข Develop and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) for database provisioning (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
โ€ข Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to ensure database performance, health, and security.
โ€ข Optimize database queries, indexes, and execution plans to improve performance and reduce costs.
โ€ข Manage high availability, replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
โ€ข Collaborate with developers, SREs, and DevOps engineers to ensure smooth and secure application-to-database integration.
โ€ข Enforce security best practices, including encryption, key management (AWS KMS/CMK), access control, and compliance with data regulations.
โ€ข Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
โ€ข Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root cause analysis.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
โ€ข 5+ years of experience as a Database Engineer / DBA with at least 3+ years in a DevOps/Cloud environment.
โ€ข Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora (at least one deeply, others working knowledge).
โ€ข Experience with CI/CD tools (Liqbase, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
โ€ข Hands-on experience with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
โ€ข Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure/GCP a plus).
โ€ข Solid understanding of database security, encryption, and auditing.
โ€ข Solid understand on Kafka cluster.
โ€ข Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
