Why Confluence?ย

At Confluence, we've always been driven by a commitment to innovation, precision, and partnership in the investment data space. Our global footprint now spans multiple countries, giving our employees the opportunity to get exposure to other countries and cultures. And it stands to reason that none of this would have been possible without the hundreds of hard-working employees who work at Confluence.
Build the Data Engine Behind Investment Performance Reporting

As a Database Developer, you will play a hands on role in shaping the data layer that underpins investment performance calculations used by enterprise clients. This role sits at the core of how returns, benchmarks and portfolio data are processed, validated and delivered.
You will work on large scale, performance critical systems where accuracy and efficiency matter. Your work will directly influence how clients understand and trust their data.

If you enjoy solving complex SQL performance problems and working with investment data, this is a strong fit. This is not a traditional DBA role. You will be solving engineering challenges across high volume datasets and working closely with experienced engineers to deliver scalable solutions.
What you will be doingย

  • Build and optimise SQL Server logic that supports investment performance calculations and reporting
ย Improve query performance and resolve bottlenecks across large and complex datasets
ย Translate investment data from custodians and market sources into structured, analytics ready models
ย Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure outputs are accurate, reliable and aligned to client needs

Core technical skillsย
  • Deep experience with SQL Server
  • Strong experience writing and optimising complex SQL and T SQL queries
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and improve performance at scale
  • Experience building database logic for analytics or reporting environments
Domain expertiseย
  • Experience working with investment performance, performance reporting, or closely related financial systems within an investment management environment
  • Practical exposure to asset classes such as fixed income, equities, or multi asset portfolios, and how these are represented in performance and portfolio data
  • Confident understanding of returns, benchmarks and portfolio structures, with the ability to validate outputs in a real world context
  • Familiarity with custodial, market or portfolio accounting data and how it feeds performance reporting
  • Comfortable identifying when results do not look right and investigating data or calculation issues

Nice to haveย
  • Python experience
  • Exposure to modern development tooling including AI assisted tools
  • Experience working with asset managers, fund administrators or investment data vendors
  • Exposure to concepts such as composites or attribution is beneficial

This is an opportunity to work on systems that sit at the centre of investment reporting. You will be part of a team improving how performance data is processed and delivered, with scope to influence how the platform evolves as it scales.

Candidates must have the right to work in the US on a permanent basis (no visa sponsorship available).
