Salary: 24.00 -28.00

An Asphalt Raker, also known as a Asphalt Laborer or Rakerman, plays a crucial role in the construction and maintenance of parking lots, and other asphalt surfaces. This position involves working closely with the asphalt paving crew to ensure a smooth and even surface is achieved. The primary responsibility of an Asphalt Raker is to distribute and level asphalt materials using a rake, shovel, and other hand tools. This role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Distribution: Distribute hot or cold asphalt materials evenly across surfaces using a rake or shovel.
  • Surface Leveling: Ensure that the asphalt surface is smooth and level by raking and spreading materials appropriately.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the asphalt paving crew, equipment operators, and other team members to achieve project goals.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of the asphalt application, making adjustments as needed to achieve the desired thickness and compaction.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to create a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
  • Tool Maintenance: Keep tools and equipment in good working condition; report any malfunctions or damage promptly.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with the paving crew to ensure a coordinated and efficient workflow.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address issues that may arise during the paving process, such as uneven distribution or compaction.
  • Physical Labor: Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and bending, in various weather conditions.
  • Clean-Up: Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the work area after completion of the paving project.


Requirements:

  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Experience: Previous experience in asphalt paving or a similar construction role is advantageous.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure a high-quality finished product.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Safety Awareness: Understanding and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.

  • Must be able to pass drug screen.
    Must have a valid Oregon State driving license and clean driving record.
    Must have a flexible schedule.
    Work days or nights and weekends.

Must be able to travel out of state for work projects.
