Job Description
The Paramedic is responsible for responding to requests by the nursing staff or physician staff to assist with BLS interventions and to assist with emergency care within the emergency department according to protocols and polices approved by the hospital and emergency department medical director, and hospital policy. This position performs other duties related to the provision of care as assigned after appropriate training.
Responsibilities
What you will do
  • Responds to requests for paramedic level services from areas within the emergency department in a timely and safe manner.
  • Completes documentation and records according to hospital and department policy.
  • Ensures emergency preparedness equipment is ready for response at all times.
  • Assists with codes and critical care patients within the emergency department at the paramedic level, including interdepartmental transport and monitoring.
  • The paramedic performs assigned duties in the emergency department under the supervision of nursing with documentation of proper training and skills evaluation.
  • Assists charge nurse and/or triage nurse in assessing, prioritizing, and maintaining patient flow and assists in reassessing patient waiting to be seen.
  • Responsible to C-Med communication.
  • Responsibilities may include assisting EMS providers with medications and supply restocking in accordance with hospital agreements with individual providers.
  • Participates in community activities, which improve the public's understanding of the EMS system
  • Pursues new levels in paramedicine technology and participates in activities which contribute to professional growth and development.

Qualifications
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Licenses and Certifications
  • Paramedic Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required and
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required and
  • ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association within 90 Days Required and
  • Non-violent crisis intervention (CPI) within 90 Days Required
