Job description

Role Summary
The SVP of Marketing & Ecommerce is the engine behind Caraway Home's brand and growth, the leader who connects bold strategic vision with commercial performance across every channel and customer touchpoint. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, this highly cross-functional role oversees the full marketing ecosystem: Performance Marketing & Creative, Brand Marketing, Ecommerce & Marketplace Growth, Data & Analytics, Digital Product and GTM (Go-To-Market), setting the strategic direction and performance bar for each while enabling a team of functional leaders to move fast and execute with excellence.
You will lead five senior functional leaders, each running their own high-performing team, with a total marketing organization of 35+ team members. You'll partner closely with Creative, Operations, Finance, Retail Sales, Product and People to turn company priorities into marketing that's impossible to ignore. Campaigns that convert, digital experiences that delight, and a brand that earns lasting loyalty.
This role oversees the P&L for Caraway's DTC & Marketplace business, with accountability for revenue growth, profitability, contribution margin, and EBITDA performance across channels and product categories. You will set the vision across marketing and growth, build high-performing teams, allocate resources against the highest-leverage opportunities, and make investment decisions that support both near-term growth and long-term business health.
Like all leaders at Caraway, this role requires you to operate at both 30,000 feet and ground level, driving strategy while also jumping into execution when necessary. This is an opportunity to take a high-growth, nine-figure brand to the next level, cementing Caraway as a household generational brand.
Who You Are
You are a seasoned marketing and ecommerce executive who has scaled a fast-growing DTC brand, and you bring the creative conviction, analytical rigor, and organizational range to do it again. You know how to build acquisition engines across channels, leverage retention to drive LTV, and interrogate data with enough skepticism to find the truth rather than confirm what you already believe. You attract strong talent, set a high bar, and bring out the best in the leaders you mentor. You are energized by ambiguity and are able to take an end goal and chart a clear path forward with urgency and without sacrificing judgment. You have managed a growing product portfolio and know how to sequence category expansion in a way that deepens the brand's relevance with every launch.
Above all, you bring a builder's instinct and an operator's discipline, obsessed with what makes Caraway distinct and committed to protecting the creative edge that makes Caraway, Caraway.
Responsibilities
Company-Wide Marketing Leadership
  • Serve as a senior advocate and business owner across all five functional teams, ensuring each has the strategic direction, mentorship, resources, and cross-functional visibility needed to do their best work.
  • Architect and continuously evolve Caraway's marketing strategy, ensuring the organization is structured to support rapid growth across DTC, Marketplace, Retail, International and emerging markets & channels.
  • Partner with the Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer to set and execute a unified omnichannel growth strategy across DTC, Marketplace, and Retail, ensuring Marketing is a driving force behind sell-through, brand visibility, and a seamless customer experience at every touchpoint.
  • Act as a key strategic thought partner to the CEO and Leadership team, shaping company priorities and long-term brand & growth positioning with equal parts creative ambition and commercial rigor.
  • Bring a cross-functional perspective and point of view to every leadership conversation, challenging assumptions, connecting dots across the business, and driving the team toward better, faster decisions.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Creative on the holistic marketing calendar: hero product moments, campaign timing, promotional events, and seasonal planning integrated across all channels.
  • Foster tight alignment, clear accountability, and strong execution across internal teams and external partners, agencies, and vendors.
  • Architect and continuously improve the ways of working between marketing and creative, from briefing quality to feedback cadence to approval workflows.

Strategic Investment & Business Judgment
  • Own Caraway's nine figure marketing budget with the strategic vision and financial discipline to drive outsized returns, knowing where to push, where to pull back, and how every dollar connects to business outcomes.
  • Bring an enterprise mindset to every investment decision, rigorously evaluating channel strategies and spend allocation for both marketing performance and broader business impact.
  • Partner with Finance and the CEO on capital allocation and commercial decisions across marketing and ecommerce, bringing a clear, data-driven point of view on where investment will drive the most growth; and ensuring every decision is grounded in cross-functional impact, contribution margin, and long-term business health.
  • Provide regular, clear progress updates on key campaigns and initiatives to the leadership team and relevant stakeholders, maintaining visibility and alignment across the organization.
  • Proactively surface trade-offs, risks, and opportunities to the broader leadership team in a timely and transparent way.

Growth & Ecommerce
  • Oversee Caraway's ecommerce strategy across DTC and Marketplace, ensuring both channels are growing, differentiated, and delivering against commercial goals within the broader omnichannel business.
  • Oversee the DTC & Marketplace P&L, partnering closely with Growth leadership to set the commercial strategy and ensure the organization delivers against revenue targets through a disciplined balance of acquisition, conversion, and retention.
  • Guide Caraway's digital experience strategy in close partnership with the Senior Director of Digital Product, ensuring it reflects the brand, scales with the business, and remains a competitive commercial asset.
  • Bring a command of growth and unit economics to every major decision, understanding how acquisition costs, conversion rates, AOV, and LTV connect to contribution margin and EBITDA.
  • In partnership with Growth leadership, guide the growth strategy across Caraway's expanding product portfolio, ensuring category and channel expansion compounds brand equity and revenue over time.
  • Drive performance across the full channel mix, paid media, OOH, social, email, retail, PR, Amazon, and emerging markets, with a relentless focus on efficiency and brand equity in equal measure.

Brand, GTM & Campaigns
  • Set the strategic direction for how Caraway shows up in the market, owning the brand narrative, shaping market positioning, and ensuring every channel tells a coherent, compelling story. Be the guardian of Caraway's mission & values, ensuring the brand never loses its point of view as it grows.
  • Lead the development of Caraway's integrated marketing calendar, hero product moments, major sitewide events, seasonal campaigns, and brand-wide initiatives, ensuring every launch is brought to life with creative ambition and commercial precision.
  • Oversee end-to-end GTM planning for new product launches, promotional events, and brand campaigns, setting the strategic frame, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring execution is tight from brief to post-mortem. You'll drive go-to-market planning, document strategies, pitch ideas to leadership, and track performance to optimize for success.
  • Partner with CEO & CFO on the promotional architecture and pricing strategy for DTC and Marketplace, making the trade-off decisions between volume, margin, and brand perception that only this role can make.
  • Work closely with Finance and Operations to ensure inventory and demand planning align with promotional strategies, keeping a pulse on real-time performance and making adjustments as needed.

Data & Analytics
  • Set the measurement framework for the marketing organization, ensuring every function has clear KPIs, reliable data, and the analytical infrastructure to make fast, informed decisions.
  • Ensure the organization operates from a single source of truth on performance, with a clear and shared framework for evaluating what is working, why, and where to invest next.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Data & Analytics to ensure the organization is investing in the right tools, infrastructure, and capabilities to support Caraway's next stage of growth.

Knowledge, Skills & Technical Proficiencies
  • 10+ years of relevant marketing & ecommerce experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role; DTC/e-commerce experience required, CPG experience a strong plus.
  • Experience managing eight or nine figure dollar marketing budgets and ownership of revenue, contribution margin, EBITDA & efficiency related KPIs.
  • Experience building and scaling an omnichannel business, across DTC, Marketplace, and Retail, including supporting or leading the opening of physical retail locations.
  • Proven track record of building brands that resonate and growth engines that perform. You've done it before at scale and know what great looks like.
  • Deeply fluent in the modern DTC marketing stack, from paid social and email to site optimization and analytics, with the technical literacy to lead teams, challenge assumptions, and make smart investment calls.
  • Demonstrated ability to architect GTM processes across cross-functional teams, building launch strategies that drive strong out-of-gate performance and sustain strategies that compound growth, retention, and category penetration over time.
  • Proven people leader who builds and develops high-performing, multi-functional marketing teams.
  • Strong upper funnel instincts and clear point of view on market positioning, what stories matter to customers and why, and how to build the brand equity that lower funnel captures.
  • A highly collaborative and proactive communicator who keeps leadership informed, navigates competing priorities, and drives decisions with clarity and conviction.
  • Entrepreneurial, comfortable with ambiguity, and deeply grounded in Caraway's values and passion for home, design, and a non-toxic lifestyle.

The anticipated base salary for this role starts at $275,000+. Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors determining the base pay at offer, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, and experience.
