Job description

Kratos has an exciting opportunity in Colorado Springs for a Software Test Lead who will lead test strategy and execution for Kratos OpenSpace 5G solutions. Analyze and resolve issues throughout the software development lifecycle.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Test Strategy & Planning

  • Develop comprehensive test strategies for 5G features across RAN, core, and end-to-end system behavior
  • Define test plans, acceptance criteria, and coverage goals aligned with product requirements
  • Identify required test tools, frameworks, and lab infrastructure
  • Coordinate test activities across internal teams and external partners

Test Execution & Quality

  • Lead functional, performance, interoperability, and regression testing
  • Drive root-cause analysis and collaborate with development teams on defect resolution
  • Validate 3GPP standards compliance
  • Oversee test engineers and ensure consistent execution

Collaboration & Integration

  • Work with software, systems, engineering teams, and external vendors to identify test gaps
  • Support integration efforts across product verticals
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure testability is designed in from the start
  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones

Test Automation & Process

  • Design and implement automated test suites for functional and regression testing
  • Integrate test automation into existing CI/CD workflows
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and demonstrate test results

  • Strong understanding of cellular architecture (5G or 4G LTE): RAN, air interface (5GNR/LTE), and 3GPP standards
  • Hands-on wireless systems test experience: performance, interoperability, protocol testing
  • Proficiency with test equipment: signal generators, spectrum analyzers, UE simulators, protocol analyzers
  • Automated test framework experience and Python scripting
  • Team leadership: manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Viavi TM500 UE simulator experience
  • Cloud?native architectures, containerized deployments, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Customer deployments, field testing, or carrier certification processes

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $150,000-$200,000
