Upper School Counselor Full Time Kennesaw, GA FY 2026-2027
Northwest Classical Academy is seeking a full-time Upper School Counselor and 504 Coordinator. Responsibilities include the points listed below for 7th-12th grade students alongside the Lower School Counselor who will work with students in grades K-6. The Upper School Counselor reports to the Upper School Principal. All employees must demonstrate professional and ethical practices consistent with school policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues.
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Adhere to the school's mission and the principles of classical education
  • Meet with students on an as-needed basis to provide counseling at the school level
  • Communicate with parents regarding student concerns
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students on matters in which there is crossover between counseling and discipline
  • Serve as a school-wide point of contact for mandatory reporting and make appropriate referrals to Georgia DFCS
  • Schedule and facilitate annual and new Section 504 eligibility meetings with teachers, parents, and other support staff members
  • Provide teachers with a copy of student 504 plans and ensure their understanding
  • Keep up-to-date records of all 504 Plans in Infinite Campus, the school's Student Information System

Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
  • Master's degree in school counseling preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required
  • Effective written and verbal communication required
  • Experience working in education or a charter school system is strongly preferred
