Job description

SUMMARY:
Person in this position will cut and or strip cable, chain, and other wire products to specific lengths. They will display the ability to work closely with others and as a team. Responsibilities listed below cover some of the significant duties performed, but do not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operates coiling line, rim drive, and spooling line equipment to make cuts
  • Loads and unloads master reels onto cutline equipment in preparation for cuts
  • Respools and cuts cable, wire rope, and whisper-flex to specified lengths
  • Logs all cuts into computer system
  • Strips a required length of jacket off of traveling cable, flat cable, and whisper-flex chain
  • Packages and pushes cut reel off of take-up for further processing
  • Performs quality checks for correct operation of counter and fault
  • Assists with cycle counts, physical inventories, and other inventory control activities

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma; machine operator/warehouse/distribution experience
  • Basic machine and tool knowledge and understanding
  • English: proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication
  • Ability to learn and understand basic computer functions to enter cutting information
  • Good physical condition, as you will be standing the majority of the day
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force
  • Physical endurance could be a factor as you will be pushing, pulling and cutting cables with manual cutters all day
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Ability to understand and follow (cutting process) special instructions.
  • Material identification is extremely critical to detect quality issues
  • Basic computer skills required to log cuts
  • Basic math skills required to calculate footages
  • Initiative to work independently and follow leadership instructions.
  • Ability to learn and operate cutstands (payoffs, takeups) respool line (payoffs, takeups), cable cutters, various small hand tools, SAP, calculator
