3D Sales professionals focus on selling 3D products and solutions, requiring sales skills and industry knowledge. 3D Designers create visual content using design software, emphasizing creativity and technical skills. While both roles involve 3D technology, their core functions and work environments differ significantly.

How does a 3D Sales professional typically collaborate with product development and technical teams?

In a 3D Sales role, collaboration with product development and technical teams is crucial for effectively understanding the capabilities and limitations of the 3D products or services being sold. Sales professionals often work closely with engineers and designers to ensure client requirements are feasible and to communicate technical specifications in a way that aligns with customer needs. Regular meetings, joint presentations, and feedback sessions are common, helping to bridge the gap between customer expectations and product delivery. This teamwork not only streamlines the sales process but also fosters innovation and customer satisfaction.

What are 3D Sales?

3D Sales refer to the process of selling 3D products, services, or solutions, such as 3D printers, modeling software, or 3D-printed objects, to businesses or consumers. Professionals in this field often work with cutting-edge technology and help clients understand how 3D solutions can benefit their operations or personal projects. The role may involve identifying customer needs, demonstrating 3D products, and providing technical support throughout the sales cycle.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 3D Sales professional, and why are they important?

To excel as a 3D Sales professional, you need a solid understanding of 3D modeling concepts, sales strategies, and industry-specific knowledge, often supported by a degree in business, design, or a related field. Familiarity with 3D software (like Autodesk or Blender), CRM systems, and digital presentation tools is typically required. Strong communication, negotiation skills, and the ability to build client relationships set top performers apart in this role. These competencies are crucial for effectively demonstrating 3D solutions, closing deals, and meeting client needs in a competitive sales environment.

Job description

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to be a key technical partner in winning and enabling complex 3D digital twin automation engagements for some of Adobe's largest enterprise customers! This includes marketing & communications agencies, CPG, Electronics, and Automotive companies.

Joining the new Enterprise Solutions & Delivery (ESD) team within the Substance 3D Growth organization, this person will be a leading technical voice in pre-sales, crafting how customers understand, evaluate, and ultimately commit to our solutions. They will also remain a key partner through post-sales delivery, ensuring what was promised is achievable and that customer feedback flows back into our product roadmap.

What You'll DoPre-Sales & Technical Solutioning:
  • Lead technical discovery/qualification with prospective customers to understand their 3D production pipeline, business goals, and automation needs.

  • Invent and present tailored solution architectures demonstrating how Substance 3D automation (on-premise Python 3D APIs, custom integrations) addresses customer requirements.

  • Build and deliver compelling demos, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and prototypes using our API's for key accounts - developing custom 3D workflows that showcase end-to-end capabilities.

  • Work closely with Sales person and Technical Program Manager to translate customer requirements into clear, technically sound proposals.

  • Set realistic expectations early in the sales cycle, anticipating delivery constraints and flagging risks before closing.

  • Support customer-facing presentations, acting as the technical authority in the room.

Customer & Collaborator Engagement:
  • Build positive relationships with technical and business partners at prospective and existing enterprise accounts.

  • Act as a bridge between customer needs and Adobe's product, engineering, and technical artist teams.

  • Remain engaged post-sale as a technical participant, supporting smooth handoff to the TPgM and maintaining continuity of the customer relationship (also contributing bringing feedback back to the team).

What You Need to Succeed
  • 5+ years of experience as a solutions architect or consultant, pre-sales engineer, senior technical consulting or other relevant role

  • Deep hands-on knowledge of 3D production pipelines in an enterprise context - including 3D data formats, rendering, and automation workflows.

  • Ability to write production-grade Python code contributing to automation pipelines, and to engage credibly with 3D technical artists and engineers.

  • Ability to scope and compose technical solutions for complex, ambiguous customer problems - turning discovery into clear, executable architectures.

  • Excellent communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences - equally comfortable whiteboarding with engineers and presenting to customer partners.

  • Proactive, customer focused, positive mentality with a strong sense of ownership.

  • Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Team-player state of mind - we are a globally distributed, multicultural bunch who want to succeed together!
