Job Summary:
The Health Fund is seeking a Campaign and Communications Coordinator to join the Health Fund Policy Team. The Health Fund Policy team was created to address the changing regulatory landscape, evaluate health policy, and elevate the 32BJ Health Fund in public discussions on healthcare costs, hospital prices, and payment innovation. The Campaign and Communications Coordinator will help execute the Campaign for Affordable Hospitals in New York and New Jersey, supported by the experience and resources of the 32BJ Health Fund, 32BJ Labor Industry Cooperation Fund, and 32BJ SEIU.
The Coordinator will work closely with campaign staff, coalition partners, union staff, and consultants to carry out digital campaigns, support communications efforts, and help engage members and allies. The ideal candidate has experience in digital organizing, campaign communications, and content development, and is comfortable working across campaign, policy, and organizing teams. The Coordinator will support the Campaign for Affordable Hospitals in New York and New Jersey by helping turn campaign goals into strong digital organizing, member engagement, and public-facing communications. This role will help connect policy and legislative work to 32BJ members, coalition partners, and the broader public through digital content, storytelling, campaign materials, and coordinated actions. This position is ideal for someone who understands that communications is not just about content production, but about building participation, shaping public narrative, and moving people to action.
The Campaign and Communications Coordinator will also support policy and campaign staff to develop and execute events including but not limited to rallies, lobby days, and press conferences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- As the team is evolving, so is the role of the Campaign and Communications Coordinator. The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Execute the campaign communications strategy, including development of social media content and digital campaigns, and ongoing management and maintenance of the campaign website.
- Draft campaign materials including social posts, talking points, testimony, fact sheets, and other advocacy communications.
- Support ongoing relationships with communications vendors, coalition partners, consultants, and community organizations by coordinating communications, project deliverables, and campaign activities.
- Implement Campaign plans and activities with allies including other unions, community and policy organizations, and employers.
- Help plan and execute campaign events, including but not limited to rallies, press conferences, public hearings, and other public advocacy events.
- Coordinate multiple campaign communication projects simultaneously by tracking timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder engagement to support campaign objectives.
- Connecting work to union members and Fund participants to carry out campaign plans.
- Help monitor the healthcare political and legislative landscape, working with consultants and partners, to identify opportunities and emerging issues for the Campaign.
- Help introduce, pass, and implement new legislative efforts that meet the goals of the Campaign and Coalition, including supporting advocacy and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Amplify the work of the Coalition and Campaign for Affordable Hospitals by disseminating data-driven analyses, recommendations, and policy perspectives to Coalition partners across multiple markets using digital, print, and other communication channels.
- Prepare members and Coalition partners for public engagement opportunities, including providing communications materials and logistical support.
- Help synthesize data and policy analyses produced by the 32BJ Health Fund policy team about healthcare costs and hospital pricing, to assist in the creation of public materials for dissemination through social media, digital platforms, or traditional means.
- Assist in content development and ensure political attendance and engagement for an annual conference on hospital prices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications (Competencies):
- The ideal candidate has three (3) to five (5) years of experience supporting or executing public affairs, legislative, labor, advocacy, or issue-based campaigns, with a focus on executing communications, organizing plans, and developing supporting campaign materials. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong relationship management, vendor coordination, event planning, and written and verbal communication skills within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Qualifications for the role include:
- Demonstrated understanding of digital organizing, campaign communications, organizing, and issue-based campaigning gained through professional experience, particularly supporting or executing large-scale field, issue-based, or legislative campaigns
- Experience managing social media platforms, digital communications, and online campaign content
- Familiarity with email, SMS, and digital advocacy platforms such as Action Network, Hustle, EveryAction, VAN, or similar tools
- Ability to translate complex healthcare, legislative, or public policy issues into clear, persuasive, and accessible communications for a variety of audiences.
- Experience coordinating activities with staff and members, and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong relationship-building, stakeholder engagement, vendor coordination, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent project coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple communications, events, campaign initiatives, and competing priorities simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel and occasionally work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as business needs require
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, demonstrated by an ability to coordinate and communicate with internal and external contacts
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
- Preferred qualifications:
- Working knowledge of the New York State, New York City, and New Jersey healthcare, legislative, and political landscapes
- Experience supporting or executing labor-centered legislative, advocacy, or coalition-based initiatives.
