Job description

The Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) is seeking a non-tenure-track, full-time faculty member (open rank) in Graphic Design. The ideal candidate will be a contemporary graphic designer with a broad practice across 2D, 3D, motion, and spatial visual communication. The candidate will leverage strong conceptual, typographic, and visual systems thinking to engage students in design across digital, physical, and time-based media. This position will complement existing faculty strengths and support the department's emphasis on interdisciplinary making and communication design.
The faculty member will teach six undergraduate courses per academic year (three per semester), contribute to college and departmental service, and maintain an active professional and/or creative practice. Capacity to teach courses in CCAD's MPS in User Experience Design program is desirable, but not required. The position will begin August 2026.
The CCAD Graphic Design Department emphasizes systems thinking, design research, visual communication across media, and collaborative interdisciplinary practice. Faculty are encouraged to collaborate on both departmental and cross-disciplinary projects, especially around UX, UI, interior design, product design, and fashion design.
A completed application will require:
  • A cover letter that articulates how the applicant's experience fits the role, highlights their teaching philosophy, and discusses their experience teaching through a lens of cultural competency
  • A CV including names and contact information for three references
  • A link to a portfolio of professional, student, and/or personal work

Additional materials may be requested later in the interview process.
Qualifications:
  • A master's degree (MA, MPS, MFA, or equivalent) in graphic design or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of professional experience, creative practice, and teaching.
  • Strong professional experience in graphic design and visual communication.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
