JOB SUMMARY
As a visual storyteller, the Visual Communication Designer will be responsible for bringing our vision and strategy to life, working closely with executives and internal teams to create compelling brand narratives through engaging visual concepts and assets. You will guide the processes and requirements for sharing how our technology is making a difference in our customers’ lives.
EXPECTED WORK AND PERFORMANCE
This section is intended to provide a more detailed overview of what the expectations of the job are to include:  work to be performed, expected performance results and how they will be measured, as well as connection to corporate strategy, values, and mission.  Job duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as needed.
 
  • Will work closely with executive and cross-functional teams to enhance the brand story for both internal and external audiences
  • A solid understanding of information graphics and the ability to readily create data visualizations that are clear and easy to understand
  • Design custom graphics, illustrations, and diagrams, as well as possess the ability to find and apply appropriate stock imagery, illustration, and design elements to complement presentation themes and content
  • Ability to transform words, ideas, and concepts into illustrations and images
  • Organize complex topics by utilizing graphics to classify and simplify information
  • Leverage graphics to improve audience comprehension and impact
  • Design With Purpose: understand the content of presentations and apply best design practices to create slide content for optimal viewing; determine which graphics are best suited for various types of content
  • Turn data, concepts, and research into compelling content through presentations while adhering to brand guidelines and design standards
  • Able to effectively manage a wide range of projects simultaneously, by quickly grasping objectives and meeting tight deadlines
  • Own the visual aspects of communication, while working closely with copywriters and UI/UX designers
  • Translate complex ideas, messages, and data into clear, visual communications that are cohesive with ARGO’s visual identity and brand image

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, marketing, advertising, fine arts, or a related field is required for the position.
  • 3+ years relevant graphic design work experience in presenting a portfolio of work showcasing strong foundation in design principles (typography, color theory, hierarchy, contrast, layout, composition, and grid / alignment)
  • Proven exemplary design skills for producing marketing collateral that adheres to design standards, as demonstrated in work portfolio.
  • Demonstrate expert proficiency across the full Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Premiere Pro and Elements, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) as well as PowerPoint, MS Word, and WordPress. Intermediate proficiency in HTML & CSS required; PHP

REQUIRED Skills/Experience/Knowledge 
  • Know the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Marketing communication standards and practices: Understand the standards and practices of quality marketing communication processes.
  • Experience with Presentation, Keynote, and/or PowerPoint Design experience, with the ability to articulate and advocate design decisions.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, working across various teams with the ability to turn around quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience in understanding complex business concepts and effectively designing visual images that concisely communicate key messages.
  • Demonstrated experience designing identity systems that support corporate brands.
  • Information gathering skills: Understand contemporary information gathering, analysis, specification, design, verification, and management practices and apply them in practice; know information-gathering techniques and the software development cycle.
  • Information organization skills: Structure or classify multiple pieces of information, properly filing assets and source files using a logical, consistent convention so that materials are easily located by cross-functional teams.
  • Synthesis/reorganization skills: Reorganize information to improve how it is presented.
  • Analytical skills: Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information into details for general understanding.
  • Active learning skills: Work with new information to grasp its implications.
  • Interviewing and questioning skills: Talk with individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions to uncover essential requirements. Understand what people say and detect what they might be hesitant to say.

  • Negotiate technical and end-user documentation priorities and resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.
  • Represent information in graphical forms that augment textual representations.
  • Able to translate strategic concepts and ideas into a compelling story (see the forest through the trees)
  • Experience in animation and motion graphics

ATTENDANCE/WORK LOCATION
The position is based in our Richardson, TX office. Daily physical presence in the office is required for interaction with co-workers, attending meetings, and for collaboration on projects.
