Job Description

We are looking for Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians to support large, multi-year infrastructure and advanced facility projects in the Columbus, OH area. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to help ensure construction quality and safety on complex, high-impact projects.

This is a hands-on field role where your work directly contributes to building safe, reliable structures that serve communities for years to come.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials to confirm they meet project specifications and quality standards

  • Set up, operate, and maintain testing equipment at job sites, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results

  • Record detailed field data and submit daily reports, including observations, test results, and site conditions

  • Communicate results, concerns, or inconsistencies to project managers and engineers in a timely and clear manner

  • Support project teams by transporting materials, preparing samples, and assisting with field and lab coordination

  • Follow all Atlas safety standards and job site requirements, identifying and addressing potential risks to maintain a safe work environment

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • A high school diploma or GED, with 2+ years of experience in construction, field testing, or a related environment

  • Hands-on experience working on active construction sites and a strong understanding of job site safety expectationsRequirements - aim for up to 6 bullets of requirements (minimum, technical and others)

  • ACI Level I certification (or the ability to obtain it quickly) and interest in earning additional certifications such as ICC

  • Experience performing or assisting with material testing (soil, concrete, asphalt) and accurately documenting results

  • The ability to follow established testing procedures and standards with attention to detail and consistency

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and share information with engineers and project teams

  • A reliable, accountable work style—you show up prepared, take ownership of your work, and follow through

  • Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions, standing for extended periods, and lifting/handling equipment

  • Flexibility to travel to job sites and work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as project schedules require
