Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a specialized unit focused on high acuity medical-surgical telemetry care, primarily within an oncology setting. This position will involve floating to various oncology departments, providing care to patients with diverse cancer diagnoses.

Unit Overview

The unit consists of comprehensive cancer care, featuring 318 acute care beds with 36 specialized inpatient beds focused on different cancer diagnoses. The nurse will float to the following oncology units:

  • BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant)
  • Acute Leukemia
  • Hematology
  • Medical Oncology
  • PCU Oncology
  • Gynecological Oncology
  • Urology
  • Colorectal
  • Surgical Oncology
  • Corrections Healthcare
Patient Care Focus

This role emphasizes a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and minimizing patient falls. Staffing ratios for the unit are:

  • PCU: 1:3 (can be 1:4 with mixed acuity)
  • Medical-Surgical Telemetry: Ideally 1:4, can be 1:5
Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of high acuity Med-Surg Tele experience or higher.
  • Oncology experience is preferred but not required.
  • Required certifications include:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Shift Details

This position requires flexibility, with potential scheduling for a combination of day and night shifts based on unit needs. The first week of orientation will consist of Monday to Friday day shifts, followed by five shifts of bedside orientation in the subsequent weeks.

Additional Information

Parking permits are available for agency staff, with various options for convenience:

  • WMC Agency Permit: 24/7 access to designated garage.
  • WB Permit: Weekend/holiday access with shuttle service to the facility.
  • CXS Permit: Weekend/holiday access with additional parking options.
