Role Description The Science Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based at Focus North High School in Columbus, OH. This educator plans and delivers engaging science lessons aligned with state standards, with a focus on building studentsโ€™ understanding of core scientific concepts and inquiry skills. Daily responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, differentiating lessons to meet varied learning needs, assessing student progress, and providing timely feedback. The Science Teacher maintains a positive, well-managed classroom environment, collaborates with colleagues and support staff, participates in professional development, and communicates regularly with families and caregivers about student achievement and behavior. Additional duties may include tutoring, supervising student activities, and contributing to school-wide initiatives that support student success.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Science Education with content knowledge in areas such as Physics and related disciplines.
  • Competence in Mathematics sufficient to support science instruction, problem-solving, and data analysis.
  • Status as a Qualified Teacher, including appropriate state licensure or eligibility for licensure in Ohio.
  • Demonstrated skill in Lesson Planning, curriculum alignment, and designing assessments that measure learning outcomes.
  • Effective classroom management, with the ability to create an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to educational equity and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Education, Science, or a related field; advanced degree or additional certifications are a plus.
  • Comfort with using educational technology, data systems, and digital resources to support instruction and track progress.
