Job description

MCAT Solutions is a small but rapidly growing company specializing in low-voltage controls and automation systems. Our primary focus is on Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and Mechanical Control Systems within data centers in and around the Columbus, Ohio area. Travel to various job sites may be required.
The Low Voltage Electrician is a hands-on role responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing low-voltage electrical systems, including HVAC and building automation systems. This role goes beyond basic installation work and includes system commissioning, advanced troubleshooting, and direct collaboration with project teams and clients.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday: 6:00am to 4:30pm
Responsibilities Include:
  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling systems, including Cat 5/6, coax, fiber optic, and control wiring
  • Install low-voltage systems and building automation components in commercial and industrial environments
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and construction documents to ensure accurate installations
  • Mount and wire control panels, sensors, actuators, and network devices
  • Bend conduit, install cable pathways, and secure cable supports according to code and project specifications
  • Perform system diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues
  • Support the startup and commissioning of control systems, including device calibration, point-to-point testing, and functional verification
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and routine maintenance of installed systems
  • Accurately document installation progress, test results, and system configurations
  • Collaborate effectively with Project Managers, contractors, and General Contractors
  • Adhere to OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Completion of a Low Voltage Electrical Apprenticeship or comparable experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Proficiency in the use of electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in active construction environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Capable of working from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and other elevated platforms
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and dusty environments
  • Ability to distinguish colors for proper wiring identification
  • Ability to safely use power tools, lifts, and testing equipment

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, for safety, coordination, and documentation purposes
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and company policies
