A High Voltage Inspector is responsible for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the safety and compliance of high-voltage electrical systems. They assess power lines, substations, transformers, and other electrical components to detect potential hazards or regulatory violations. Their role helps prevent electrical failures, enhances system reliability, and ensures worker and public safety. High Voltage Inspectors must be knowledgeable about industry codes, safety standards, and protective equipment. They often work for utility companies, government agencies, or private contractors in industries that rely on high-voltage power systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a high voltage inspector?

To thrive as a High Voltage Inspector, you must possess a solid understanding of electrical systems, safety standards, and troubleshooting techniques, often supported by a relevant technical diploma or degree. High Voltage Inspectors typically spend much of their time onsite at power plants, substations, industrial facilities, or utility installations—environments where safety is a top priority. The role often involves both indoor and outdoor work, and may require travel to multiple locations, sometimes on short notice. Inspectors regularly collaborate with engineers, line crews, and project managers to coordinate inspections, address safety concerns, and ensure regulatory compliance. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory, and detailed reporting of findings is a key part of daily responsibilities. Description
Senior Maintenance Electrician (High Voltage / Water Utilities)
Atlanta Metro Area | Multi-Site Operations
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Electrician to support critical infrastructure across multiple facilities in the Atlanta metro area. This role is ideal for a Georgia Non-Restricted Electrical Contractor (Class II) or Master-level Electrician with strong high-voltage and industrial maintenance experience.
If you thrive in environments where safety, reliability, and operational uptime matter-and enjoy solving complex electrical challenges-this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
What You'll Do
  • As a Senior Maintenance Electrician, you will serve as a technical expert supporting plant operations and maintenance teams, with responsibility for troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex electrical systems.
  • Perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Work with switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, motor controls, instrumentation, and power distribution
  • Support electrical systems operating at 480V, 600V+, and medium-voltage levels
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical failures to minimize downtime and maintain compliance
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, and control drawings
  • Partner with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams across multiple sites
  • Maintain accurate documentation, work orders, and maintenance records
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency electrical support
  • Travel between local facilities as needed

What We're Looking For
Required
  • Georgia Non-Restricted Electrical Contractor (Class II) license
    or Master-level electrician credential
  • Demonstrated high-voltage electrical experience in industrial or utility environments
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot complex electrical systems
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites

Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in wastewater treatment, water utilities, pump stations, or municipal/industrial facilities
  • Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and industrial controls
  • Prior experience supporting mission-critical operations
  • Class B CDL (or ability to obtain)

Schedule & Work Environment
  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Participation in a 24/7 emergency on-call rotation
  • Physical ability to lift 50-60 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive Atlanta-market pay based on experience and credentials (Senior-level, high-voltage compensation)
  • Overtime and on-call pay
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision)
  • Retirement plan options
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Long-term stability supporting essential infrastructure

Why Join Us
  • Work on critical electrical systems that directly support public health and operations
  • Join a team that values expertise, safety, and professionalism
  • Be trusted as a senior technical contributor, not a helper
  • Stable, long-term role in a high-demand trade

To support a safe and secure workplace, all offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of background screening, drug testing, and driving record review where applicable.
