TITLE: Fiscal Specialist (Payroll)
REPORTS TO: Treasurer/CFO
JOB GOALS: To assist the Treasurer/CFO and maintain fiscal records in accordance with standards set by the Auditor of State and as established in Board Policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Eligible to obtain or possess a valid Ohio Treasurer's License preferred.
  • Experience with Redesign Uniform School Accounting System (USAS/USPS) and SCView software.
  • Experience in Frontline products (Absence Management, Time Keeping & Attendance)
  • Experience with all facets of Employee Benefits
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service attitude skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Works cooperatively with others and is a team player.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Treasurer/CFO and BOE may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Successfully complete and pass a BCII and FBI check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll:
  • Prepares, completes, reconciles, and files all semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tasks.
  • Maintains employee payroll files.
  • Assist Human Resources to ensure complete and accurate employee information as approved by BOE.
  • Assist certified and classified union presidents with sick leave donation requests.
  • Assist employees with benefit programs, including enrollment, qualifying events, and annual open enrollment.
  • Process employment verifications, sick leave transfers, and STRS/SERS wage certifications.
  • Process annual salary notices
  • Process, File, and maintain annual W-2 reporting.
  • Assist in preparation and retrieval of payroll data for annual appropriations, negotiations, and cost studies.

Departmental:
  • Attends workshops and in-service meetings to enhance and improve professional skills.
  • Develops and updates fiscal department policies and procedures manuals.
  • Supports and cross-trains within fiscal department area of responsibilities.
  • Works collaboratively with all buildings and departments.
  • Maintains fiscal records in accordance with standards set by the Auditor of State and as established in BOE Policy.
  • Performs other duties and assumes responsibilities as assigned by the Treasurer/CFO.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policy on Confidential Classified Personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • 260-day work calendar, 12-month position
  • As per the Confidential Classified salary schedule

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
  • Possible evening and/or weekend work.
