Role Description The Epic Application Coordinator – Laboratory IS is a full-time, on-site role based in the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for configuring, testing, and maintaining Epic Laboratory applications to support accurate, efficient, and safe laboratory workflows across the hospital. Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and analyzing user requirements, designing and updating build within Epic, performing system and integration testing, and coordinating software upgrades and enhancements. The coordinator collaborates closely with laboratory leadership, clinicians, IT teams, and Epic representatives to troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, and ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance. This role also develops and maintains documentation, supports training efforts for end users, and participates in on-call rotation to provide timely application support.
Qualifications
  • Experience with Epic Laboratory or related Epic modules, including system configuration, workflow design, and ongoing application support.
  • Background in clinical laboratory operations or healthcare information systems, with understanding of laboratory processes, terminology, and regulations.
  • Strong skills in requirements gathering, analysis, and problem-solving to translate operational needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate testing activities, and work collaboratively with cross-functional clinical and IT teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear documentation and support end-user training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Epic certification in relevant Laboratory applications (or ability to obtain certification within designated timeframe) preferred.
  • Prior experience in a large hospital or health system environment and familiarity with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards (
