Job description

At Local Crafts, we're the creative force behind some of the most beloved names in crafting — Connecting Threads, Superior Threads, Knit Picks, Crochet.com, and Berroco. From our own workshops to trusted partners around the globe, we design and curate products makers reach for every day: the fabrics, threads, yarns, and tools that turn ideas into finished pieces.

We're looking for a Distribution Center Manager to lead our Columbus, Ohio facility — and when we say lead, we mean it. This is a people-first operations role. You'll manage a team of managers, set the standard for how great leadership looks on the floor, and build the kind of culture where accountability, safety, and continuous improvement aren't posters on the wall — they're how your team actually operates. The process work matters, but your most important job is developing the people who run it.

What You'll Do

  • Build, coach, and develop a team of area managers and supervisors across receiving, fabric production, inventory, picking/packing, and outbound shipping — this is a manager-of-managers role and people development is core to it
  • Set clear performance expectations, hold your team accountable, and invest in their growth through regular coaching and feedback
  • Create a culture where safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement are lived values, not aspirational ones
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure accurate, on-time order fulfillment with strong quality standards
  • Drive workflow improvements across picking logic, cycle times, and cost per order using structured methodologies like Lean, PDCA, or Six Sigma
  • Own KPI dashboards and operational reporting that keep the team accountable and inform leadership decisions
  • Partner with the COO on warehouse footprint planning, capacity modeling, and integration of newly acquired businesses into our operations

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of warehouse or distribution leadership experience, with demonstrated experience managing managers or supervisors — not just individual contributors
  • A genuine investment in developing people, with examples of teams you've grown and leaders you've built
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes, think through solutions, and act decisively in a fast-moving environment
  • A track record of improving operational processes and implementing standardized workflows
  • Experience in e-commerce or small-parcel distribution
  • Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience with WMS and ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)
  • Clear, confident communication and the ability to build trust across a team and across functions
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

You'll Thrive Here If

  • You believe that great operations start with great people leadership, not just great systems
  • You're the kind of manager your team trusts to go to bat for them and challenge them at the same time
  • You can move fluidly between a strategic conversation with the COO and a coaching conversation on the floor
  • You use data to drive decisions and hold your team to the same standard
  • You've worked in complex, SKU-dense environments and know how to bring structure and clarity to a fast-moving operation

Additional Information

  • This is an on-site role in Columbus, Ohio, reporting directly to the COO.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with company match; paid time off; and parental leave.
  • Employee discounts across all Local Crafts brands including Connecting Threads, Superior Threads, Knit Picks, Crochet.com, and Berroco.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Local Crafts is unable to sponsor employment visas for this position.
  • Role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Local Crafts is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by law.
