Job Summary: The CNC Thread Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of CNC threading machines used to manufacture premium threaded connections and components. This position requires the ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements while producing quality products that meet established dimensional, safety, and production standards. The operator performs machine adjustments, tooling changes, inspections, and quality checks with minimal supervision while maintaining compliance with all company safety and operational procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Machine Operation and Setup
  • Operate CNC threading machines, CNC lathes, and related production equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Load and unload raw materials, workpieces, and finished products safely and efficiently.
  • Set up machines, including installation and adjustment of tooling, inserts, chuck jaws, and workholding devices.
  • Perform machine offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality.
  • Load machine programs, verify machine settings, and monitor machine performance throughout production runs.
  • Conduct threading operations according to work orders, process sheets, blueprints, customer specifications, and operating procedures.
  • Assist in troubleshooting machine performance issues and making process adjustments as required.
Quality Control and Inspection
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, specifications, and technical documents to determine product requirements and dimensions.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Perform in-process inspections and final quality checks to ensure products meet customer and company standards.
  • Complete inspection reports and production documentation accurately.
  • Maintain traceability by recording production data, machine settings, and quality results.
Maintenance and Equipment Care
  • Perform daily machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance activities.
  • Monitor coolant levels, lubrication systems, and machine operating conditions.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, quality issues, and safety concerns to supervision promptly.
Safety and Compliance
  • Work in accordance with all departmental and company safety objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow all instructions provided by supervisors and leadership personnel.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Safely perform work around materials that may be hot, heavy, sharp, or involve hazardous substances.
  • Follow customer procedures, specifications, and quality requirements at all times.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervision.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work an industrial schedule, including overtime (rotating every 3 months or fixed 8-12 hour shift work, which will include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). Can be asked to stay later into next shift if relief calls off.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety procedures/guidelines at all times.

  • Capability to work with and around materials that may be hot, heavy, sharp, or involve hazardous chemicals.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift in excess of 25 lbs.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of manufacturing, machining, or industrial experience with CNC premium connections.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate CNC threading machines or similar production equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, blueprints, specifications, and process instructions.
  • Knowledge of machine offsets, tooling installation, insert replacement, and chuck jaw setup.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and inspection gauges.
  • Basic mathematical skills involving measurements, tolerances, and calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with premium connection manufacturing or oilfield tubular products.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls, machine programming, and G-code interpretation.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, squat, and climb as required.

Working Conditions
