Job Title: Sr. Java backend /Google Cloud Platform Developer ;

Location: Columbus, OH ;

Duration: Long term Contract

Mode of Work: Onsite;

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to create enterprise API and event-driven integration solutions.
  • Develop software in an Agile environment leveraging DevOps practices, automated testing, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient microservices deployed on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Build and maintain event-driven systems utilizing Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
  • Integrate applications with MongoDB Atlas and other enterprise data platforms.
  • Develop automated testing strategies including unit, integration, contract, and performance testing.
  • Implement observability practices including centralized logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.
  • Maintain and evolve existing enterprise integration assets and cloud-hosted services.
  • Partner with platform engineering and infrastructure teams to continuously improve deployment automation, cloud operations, security, and reliability.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and provide guidance on application architecture, coding standards, and cloud-native best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience / Skills Required

  • 7+ years of software development experience building enterprise applications and APIs.
  • 5+ years of Java development experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Maven, and Gradle.
  • Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience with GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), Kubernetes, Docker containers, and microservices architectures.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka or managed Kafka platforms such as Confluent Cloud.
  • Experience with MongoDB Atlas and NoSQL database design principles.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, resiliency patterns, scalability, and performance optimization.
  • Experience working within Agile and DevOps delivery models.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, architecture, and business teams.

Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Datadog.

Experience developing financial services or high-volume transaction processing systems.

Experience with security best practices including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, and Zero Trust architectures.
