ABOUT THE POSITION
The Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. This full-time position is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor. Academic rank to be determined by The Chicago School & IllinoisCOM Faculty Appointment and Promotion Policy.
The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator, accomplished clinician, and innovative leader with expertise in Osteopathic Principles and Practice within a broad range of specialties including Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Surgical specialties. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of the Patient Centered Osteopathic Practice (PCOP) curriculum which will incorporate all the physical skills and tasks related to being an Osteopathic physician including OMT. The successful candidate will also support faculty recruitment and development, and foster a collaborative, student-focused environment that aligns with the mission and values of the IllinoisCOM and The Chicago School.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Leadership & Administration
Provide leadership and supervision for osteopathic medical students within the IllinoisCOM.
Participate as course director or co-course director for pre-clinical PCOP courses.
Teaching, Curriculum Development, & Student Success
Contribute to the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary Patient Centered Osteopathic Practice (PCOP) curriculum.
Teach medical students using evidence-based instructional methods, including case-based learning and OMM lab supervision and table training.
Develop and lead PCOP lecture and lab didactic sessions.
Participate in the assessment and evaluation of pre-clinical students as needed.
Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in academic and clinical settings.
Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate PCOP content across the curriculum.
Service
Represent the College in professional organizations and events.
Assist with student recruitment and community outreach efforts.
Participate in College and University committees.
Support student and faculty participation in community outreach and service-learning programs.
Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
Engage in clinical practice (strongly encouraged).
Research & Scholarly Activity
Promote a culture of research and scholarship.
Support faculty and student research.
Seek external funding opportunities and partnerships to enhance research initiatives.
Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance for research activities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
DO or MD degree with board certification in related specialty.
At least 1 year of experience in medical education, residency training, or faculty leadership.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
Strong supervisory, interpersonal communication (verbal and written), and problem-solving skills.
Motivation to contribute to the growth and development of the OMM department, IllinoisCOM and University.
Commitment to collaborative, interprofessional education and the integration of osteopathic principles and practice in training.
At least 1 year of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine clinical practice and teaching experience (can include residency and fellowship training for new graduates).
Proficiency in basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience as an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine or clinical skills Course Director at an accredited Osteopathic medical school.
Experience as Program Director or faculty in an ONMM +1 residency program.
ONMM Board Certification/Eligibility, Special Proficiency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (CS-POMM) and/or prior NUFA graduate.
Strong background in point of care ultrasound (especially musculoskeletal), educational innovation, simulation-based training, and competency-based assessment including COMLEX style item writing.
Established record of research and scholarly activity in medical education or respective specialty.
Demonstrated commitment to health equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical practice and medical education.
POSITION DETAILS
Salary range: This opportunity is budgeted at $175,000 - $300,000 base compensation, commensurate with rank and experience. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
Location: Chicago, IL (Relocation assistance available for eligible candidates)
