Job description

Who We're Looking For
VPL is looking for an Account Manager to join our fast-growing team!
The Account Manager independently owns and deepens a portfolio of customer relationships and is responsible for ensuring customers realize meaningful, measurable value from their partnership with VPL. This person serves as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders, develops and executes strategic account plans, proactively identifies opportunities and risks, and coordinates resources across VPL to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
This role requires someone who can move beyond managing the day-to-day and think strategically about where an account is today, where it can go, and how VPL can help get it there.
What You'll Do
  • Own Your Accounts - Take full ownership of assigned customer relationships, account health, retention, performance, and overall customer experience.
  • Build Trusted Relationships - Develop strong relationships across customer organizations, including operational leaders, decision-makers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Develop & Execute Account Strategy - Create and maintain strategic account plans that position VPL as a trusted partner with clear objectives around customer value, adoption, retention, savings, and growth.
  • Execute Customer Touch Plan - Engage with the customer on a prescribed cadence including traveling onsite for executive meetings and business reviews geared towards demonstrating value and deepening partnerships.
  • Drive Customer Value - Analyze customer data to optimize vendor penetration and compliance, identify savings opportunities, improve program performance, and demonstrate measurable value.
  • Anticipate Risk - Recognize account concerns, adoption challenges, or potential retention risks early and develop plans to address them.
  • Deliver Compelling Insights - Create and present data-backed recommendations that help customers make better decisions and achieve their goals.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Solutions - Coordinate with internal teams to resolve complex customer challenges and ensure VPL is delivering against customer expectations.
  • Understand Our Customers' World - Stay current on healthcare logistics, customer priorities, and industry trends to bring relevant ideas and solutions to customers.
  • Contribute to the Team - Share best practices, provide informal guidance to developing team members, and help continuously improve VPL's approach to account management.

What You'll Bring
  • 3-5+ years of account management, customer success, client services, healthcare, logistics, SaaS, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage and retain customer relationships.
  • Strong consultative relationship-building skills with the ability to establish credibility with stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic account plans.
  • Experience maintaining customer data and logging customer interactions in a CRM.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen with the ability to translate data into meaningful customer recommendations.
  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to identify value-creation opportunities and partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver them.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex customer situations.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple customer relationships with a high degree of independence.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to drive customer outcomes.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, supply chain, logistics, or SaaS environments preferred.
