Job description

The future is now, Willdan is "Envisioning the Future" of building and safety through our work with cities, buildings, and transportation.

Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., has apart time opening fora Fire Inspectorin the Quincy, MA area. The qualified individuals will be responsible for inspections of residential, commercial, industrial and other buildings during and after construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections of residential, commercial, educational, institutional, hazardous, and industrial properties to determine and enforce compliance with fire safety laws and ordinances.
  • Reviews building and site plans for fire access and water supplies, and works with developers, architects, contractors, water purveyors and building officials to ensure code compliance.
  • Inspects new and existing properties under construction for compliance with approved plans and fire protection specifications.
  • Performs technical inspections of building construction and testing of fire protection system elements.
  • Issues permits governing hazardous materials, hazardous conditions, and hazardous operations, inspecting for compliance with permit requirements.
  • Investigates complaints of fire and life safety hazards.
  • Prepares written correspondence and reports, and issues written orders to eliminate fire hazards.
  • Works with jurisdictions to file complaints and assist in prosecutions as needed.
  • May assist in determination for fire origin and cause investigation.
  • Meets with, informs, instructs, and educates members of the business community and the public on the hazards of fires and on fire safety practices.
  • Researches, interprets, and applies fire prevention laws and ordinances.
  • Writes letters and reports and maintains necessary records.
  • Works with other enforcement agencies to conduct investigations, inspections, and promote public safety.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • ICC Fire Inspector 1 certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of State and local codes.
  • 5+ years' experience in fire inspections of educational facilities, public assemblies, and commercial and industrial occupancies.
  • Municipal experience.
