Position Summary...What you'll do...Staff Software Engineer - Frontend Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers. Join Walmart Global Tech's Site Reliability Engineering organization as a Frontend Staff Software Engineer to architect revolutionary agentic AI systems that autonomously monitor, predict, and resolve issues across the world's largest retailer's technology ecosystem, impacting millions of customers and associates globally. You'll lead the transformation of traditional SRE practices into cutting-edge, self-healing platforms that serve as the intelligent backbone for reliability engineering across all of Walmart's systems, from e-commerce to stores to supply chain. What You'll Do You'll be responsible for designing and building Tier 0 high-availability, resilient agentic platforms that serve as the backbone for reliability engineering across all of Walmart's systems, stores and facilities across US and international markets while defining and implementing unified, intelligent, operationally robust technical solutions and tools for all Walmart Technology organizations across all channels and geographies. Frontend Architecture & Technical Leadership:
  • Design and architect advanced frontend systems and platforms that serve as the foundation for reliability engineering and operations tools across Walmart's technology ecosystem
  • Establish technical strategies and frontend architecture patterns that enable scalability, maintainability, and performance across distributed teams
  • Lead the design of intelligent observability and monitoring interfaces that leverage modern UI patterns for anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and user-driven insights
  • Architect frontend solutions that integrate with backend systems to deliver cohesive, intuitive experiences for engineers and operations teams
Engineering Excellence & Code Quality:
  • Design and deliver code that's readable, maintainable, testable, scalable, reusable, and efficient
  • Establish frontend best practices including unit testing patterns, performance optimization, caching strategies, and monitoring across all frontend applications
  • Perform complex troubleshooting and analysis of frontend performance issues across large-scale distributed applications
  • Implement advanced CI/CD pipelines for frontend systems including automated deployment, validation, and rollback mechanisms with built-in observability
Strategic Innovation & Collaboration:
  • Partner with engineering organizations across all domains (e-commerce, supply chain, stores, fintech, data platforms) to deliver innovative frontend solutions
  • Collaborate with backend teams to design effective and understandable APIs and data contracts
  • Work with designers and product managers to think from the customer's perspective and recommend design improvements
  • Drive the adoption of the latest frontend technologies and frameworks while maintaining stability and reliability
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Mentor fellow engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing
  • Lead design reviews and architectural discussions to establish technical excellence within your team
  • Guide engineering team on frontend best practices, performance optimization, and platform engineering excellence
  • Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the organization
What You'll Create With

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer, with at least 4+ years in frontend/full-stack development
  • Expert-level HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills
  • Strong expertise in React and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience building graph visualizations (e.g., Cytoscape.js, KeyLines SDK (preferred), or similar libraries) is a strong plus
  • Deep understanding of caching, logging, performance tuning, and monitoring strategies
  • Solid understanding of the full app development life cycle
  • Proficiency with GitHub and version control best practices
  • Advanced unit testing expertise and testing frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins or equivalent
  • Comfortable working in a distributed team and communicating asynchronously
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead engineering teams
  • Experience designing scalable frontend architectures for large-scale systems
