Job description

Description

Join our team

The Consumer Mobility Planning & Performance team is a high-performing, analytical, and highly engaged group at the heart of TELUS's wireless portfolio. We value rigorous data logic, business acumen, and strategic insight to stay ahead of the market. We are looking for an analytical expert who excels at translating complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable business cases and performance management strategies across all our wireless brands.

Our team leads the development, governance, and evaluation of strategic planning, performance analytics, and business casing for the holistic Consumer Marketing organization. We define, track, and optimize key financial and subscriber & overall P&L metrics to win and sustain share in the Canadian telecommunications market. Our mandate includes rigorous performance management, cross-brand forecasting, and data-driven strategic deep-dives to steer decision-making.

We focus on gaining a deep, quantitative understanding of our business performance and customer trends, using data to build and articulate the financial frameworks that validate our market strategies. We partner closely with the Executive leadership team to deliver the performance reporting and business cases needed to steer our multi-brand wireless strategy.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together:

As a Senior Strategy Manager, you'll steer strategic discussions and share data-backed recommendations with our executive team to shape the financial and operational outlook of our business. As the team evaluates key strategic questions, you'll use your analytical expertise to stress-test business cases, identify performance gaps, and enable optimal resource allocation.

With line of sight across our core KPIs and wireless brands, you'll keep your finger on the pulse of business performance, build relationships across the Consumer Marketing organization to inform your analytics, and take our forecasting and business casing processes to the next level of accuracy.

You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders across Marketing, Business Intelligence, Finance, and Product teams to analyze performance and build forward-looking business models to support growth objectives. This means you'll help build robust financial justifications and develop your executive storytelling ability, while getting direct exposure to senior leadership and helping lead the charge on our overall strategic direction.

Lastly, you'll have the opportunity to own a variety of commercial evaluations, strategic financial deliverables, and performance outlooks throughout the year.

Here's what you bring to the table:

  • Analytical Storyteller: You enjoy distilling complex data sets and financial metrics into a compelling, clear narrative for executive decision-makers
  • Financial & Data Modeler: You comfortably condense complex inputs from multiple stakeholders into structured, quantitative business cases and a single source of truth
  • Performance Driver: You see the bigger picture of the performance gaps you are trying to solve, proactively seeking out data points and KPIs to complement your analysis
  • Energized Problem Solver: When an intricate business problem or financial variance presents itself, you are the first person to build an analytical framework to tackle it
  • Agile Thinker: Uncertainty and ad-hoc financial requests don't faze you; you relish updating business cases and pivoting performance management frameworks quickly in response to shifting executive asks
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 4-8 years financial/strategic planning & performance analysis experience
  • Past experience in Business case/modeling, financial analysis as well as bringing analytical rigor to data-based storytelling and decision-making
  • Excellent communications skills including experience developing and delivering presentations to senior executives
  • Proficient in Google Sheets/Excel with an ability to deal with large sets of data and building complex models
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and balancing multiple priorities/needs

Great to haves:

  • Past experience or strong interest in the telecommunications/technology sector
  • AI-based fluency - specific to driving workflow automation and productivity
  • MBA or professional financial designation (e.g., CFA, CPA)

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
