Head of Engineering — Growing EdTech SaaS Startup

Help us build the technology that gives K-12 school districts across the country better tools to serve students and staff.

We're a growing EdTech SaaS company looking for a Head of Engineering to own our entire technology function — from architecture to product development, infrastructure, security, and delivery. We don't have an AI strategy yet — you'll be the one to define it, deciding where and how AI creates real value for our product, our team, and the districts we serve.

This isn't a "manage the dev team" role. We're looking for someone who wants to help build a company.

You might be a great fit if you're:

• Genuinely curious — always exploring new technologies and staying ahead of where AI is headed, not just applying it, but figuring out where it should go
• Speed-driven, with a bias toward shipping and learning fast
• Comfortable making smart calls with imperfect information
• Still hands-on — you'd rather write code than just review it
• Excited by the challenge (and chaos) of scaling a startup
• 8+ years software engineering experience, with a track record of technical leadership

Technical experience:

• .NET / C# (Blazor Server experience a plus)
• SQL Server, multi-tenant database design
• AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS/S3 migration experience a plus)
• SSO / OAuth 2.0 implementation
• Security-first mindset — encryption, secrets management

• Technology strategy and system architecture
• Defining our AI strategy from the ground up
• The full software development lifecycle
• Cloud infrastructure, security, and scalability
• Engineering culture and process
• Hiring, growing, and mentoring the engineering team
