Job Summary
Horizons HRS, Ltd. is looking for an experienced, trustworthy, and detail-focused individual for a Grinding Machine Operator for our client in Mason, Ohio.
Do you have solid attention to detail and a desire to ensure products retain the highest quality standards? If so, become a valuable team member as a Grinding Machine Operator. You will use your profound knowledge of how the machinery works to ensure it remains functional by performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs. Your problem-solving skills will come in handy as you keep the machinery running and reduce potential gaps in production.
Sets up and operates grinding machines to grind external surfaces of metal workpieces and/or full bar lengths to specifications.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Reads blueprints and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and the number of parts to be ground, and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheel to be used.
  • Mount grinding wheels on the spindle.
  • Positions and tightens cams and stops to control the cut depth and stroke length.
  • Lifts and positions workpiece and secures workpiece on the faceplate or magnetic chuck, in fixture or chuck, or directly to the machine table.
  • Perform basic repairs, including replacing parts when they are worn down or broken, within the scope of expected knowledge and expertise.
  • Grind nonmetallic materials.
  • Inspect machinery and workpieces to ensure they comply with specifications to reduce malfunctions.
  • Ensure grinding wheels are dressed according to specifications, so the machines remain at peak working capability.
  • Stop the machine upon discovering a problem and make the required adjustments as quickly as possible to minimize downtime.
  • Provide quality control by inspecting workpieces as they come out of the equipment and removing any defective pieces.
  • Finish products using hand tools to ensure the surfaces are filed or finished accordingly.
Qualifications:

  • You must understand how to use grinding equipment properly to perform duties safely and quickly.
  • Have a complete understanding of manufacturing safety, including experience working around large and dangerous machines.
  • Have manual dexterity, physical stamina, and mechanical expertise.
  • Good decision-making and foresight.
  • Physical agility is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and testing.

  • Bonus payout schedule: First half is paid after 90 days of employment, and the remainder is paid 180 days after successful work completion. Any payout must meet required policies such as attendance and performance within the position.
