Job Summary:
The Lead Production Maintenance Technician is responsible for:
  • Providing and coordinating the day-to-day plant maintenance functions on their shift.
  • Providing supervision for the Production Technicians.
  • Ensuring maintenance operating efficiencies.
  • Safety.
  • Housekeeping.
  • Quality workmanship.
  • Primary contact with the Production Supervisors to coordinate work with maintenance staff on duty.
  • Executes preventive maintenance programs.
  • Effectively coordinates maintenance activities with production, warehouse, and quality.
  • Provide support to the leadership team and employees at the site.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Leads all Production Technicians on their scheduled shifts.
  • Coordinate's maintenance workers by scheduling repairs, and planning maintenance and installation activities.
  • Coordinate's maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Review's production, quality control and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Identifies the training needs of shift personnel in all aspects of their jobs consistent with established operating procedures.
  • Ensure safety in the workplace by eliminating unsafe conditions and unsafe employee behaviors.
  • Protect Company assets by the direct intervention of any condition resulting in the abuse of equipment or buildings.
  • Executes the preventive maintenance program in conjunction with the maintenance staff.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Participates in the planning of new installations. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of maintenance staff. Analyzes and troubleshoot equipment problems. Assists maintenance staff in solving equipment problems.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, or GED.
  • Two or more years related experience in Mechatronics or a food grade facility.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Aseptic processing,
  • High-speed form/fill/seal packaging.
  • Boiler License and/or Electrician's License is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of business software, and manufacturing software (HMIs, PLCs, manufacturing controls).

Additional Considerations:
  • This role will be at the SunOpta Plant in Allentown, PA.
  • This will be a nightshift opportunity on a 2-2-3 pattern, 12-hour shifts (5:30pm to 6:00 pm). Some flexibility may be required.
  • Some travel may be needed on occasion.
  • Pay Rate: $46.50 for Lead role.
  • Shift Differential: $2.00/hour shift differential offered for working 12-hour night shift on 2-2-3 pattern.
  • Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
