Job description

4th Shift: Fri-Sun 5pm-5am (+Thursdays during peak), (+$2/hr. shift diff.) 
What You’ll Do Here:  
  • Installation and Setup: Install and configure new printing and bindery equipment. Ensure that all machines are calibrated and set up according to production requirements and specifications.
  • Maintenance: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on printing presses and bindery equipment, including stitching, folding, cutting, and other finishing machines. Adhere to a maintenance schedule to minimize equipment downtime and extend machine life.
  • Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in both printing and bindery equipment. Utilize manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to effectively identify and resolve problems.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical support and training to production staff on operating and troubleshooting printing and bindery equipment. Provide guidance on best practices and safety procedures.
  • Parts Management: Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies for both printing and bindery equipment. Order parts as necessary and ensure effective storage and handling of components.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including service logs, parts used, and repair times. Prepare reports on equipment performance, maintenance issues, and improvements for management review.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with production teams to identify opportunities for improving equipment efficiency and reducing downtime. Implement best practices and process improvements in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations for both printing and bindery operations. Promote a culture of safety and ensure that all equipment is used and maintained in a safe manner.
  • Training: Train production operators on proper equipment use, maintenance procedures, and basic troubleshooting techniques for both print and bindery equipment.
 The Skills You’ll Bring:  
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or an associate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:  A minimum of 4 years performing maintenance on high-speed Bindery/Finishing, Digital Print, and high voltage (480V) equipment or equivalent experience  
  • Bindery and Finishing equipment including Muller Martini 
  • Digital Print/Press equipment including HP Indigo 
  • Proven experience as an Equipment Technician with hands-on experience in both printing and bindery equipment. Knowledge of various types of printing presses, bindery machinery (e.g., stitchers, folders, cutters), and finishing processes is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
  • Attributes: Excellent problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to addressing equipment issues.
  
Working Conditions:  
  • Environment: Work in a fast-paced production environment. Will involve standing for extended periods and lifting heavy equipment or parts.
  • Hours: Will require working irregular hours, including nights and weekends, depending on production schedules and maintenance needs.
  • Ability to work on all shifts as needed, stand for 12 hours+, lift up to 50 lbs., crouch, kneel, reach, bend and do repetitive actions
