    Job description

    GENERAL PURPOSE:

    Store Operations and Loss Prevention are large organizations with a wide breadth of departments that directly support Stores and Field teams. These teams manage recurring maintenance activities as well as several major initiatives each year.

    The Senior Analyst, Store Finance will manage critical financial processes for the Store Operations team including month-end close, forecast, budget, and 5-year planning.  The position will also perform other ad-hoc analysis and reporting, as needed.

    This role will report to the Senior Manager of Store Finance and interact frequently with Store Finance Leadership and Store Operations business partners. This is an individual contributor position (no direct reports).

    Ross Stores has a hybrid work model - we are in the Dublin Corporate office 3 days a week.

    The base salary range for this role is $81,000 - $121,800. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Support Capital and Expense financial processes for Store Operations

    • Provide financial leadership and support for Store Operations Expense and Capital spend by maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring forecast accuracy, and delivering actionable insights. Partner closely with account and project owners to understand business drivers, key assumptions, risks, and opportunities impacting financial performance.
    • Lead monthly capital and expense forecasting activities for both new and existing stores, including reconciling, consolidating, and submitting forecast changes. Monitor and research significant variances versus budget, prior forecast, and actuals, providing clear insights and explanations.
    • Support the Store Operations Annual Budget and 5 Year Plan processes, including reviewing and updating budget templates, validating assumptions, and identifying risks and opportunities to ensure submissions are accurate and complete. 
    • Partner with capital project business owners and finance team partners to prepare Capital Expenditure Request materials. Ensure all materials are thoroughly reviewed and analyzed prior to submission.
    • Prepare financial reports and analysis for Store Finance Leadership and Store Operations Leadership reviews to support informed discussions and decision making.
    • Drive continuous improvement of Store Finance processes by developing and maintaining standardized processes, documentation, and reporting tools that enhance efficiency, consistency, scalability, and data integrity.

    Lead and provide support for other analysis and reporting as needed. 

    • Perform financial modeling, scenario planning, and ad hoc analysis to evaluate business initiatives, assess financial impacts, and support strategic decision-making.
    • Conduct ROI analysis including tracking project financial results to ensure forecasted improvements to our financial results are realized. Investigate current non-ROI projects for corresponding sales lift, or payroll savings, and potential inclusion for ROI analysis in the future
    • Coordinate workplans with managers and Store Finance Leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and expectations.  Review analysis and materials for accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness prior to distributing to business partners and leadership.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

        Bachelor's degree required (preferably in an analytical field)
        Minimum 2-4 years of relevant work experience, with planning and forecasting experience desirable
        A clear understanding of basic financial concepts
        Detail oriented, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
        Strong analytical ability - must be able to synthesize data, be able to error check and reconcile own work and be able to design analysis to answer specific questions.
        Ability to cope with pressure, multiple tasks, deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.
        Build relationships with a wide variety of internal contacts. Ability to effectively communicate and partner with multiple levels from peer to Senior Leaders.
        Advanced financial skills, computer skills including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - proficiency of Excel and PowerPoint required
        Must be trustworthy with confidential data and other information
