    Description Love books? If you love books and want to play an active role in the continued expansion of one of the book industry's most important and fastest growing organizations, then you must be part of the Readerlink Distribution Service's dynamic team. Readerlink sells 1 of every 3 trade print books sold in the United States to a blue chip customer base including the biggest names across multiple retail channels. In the past few years, Readerlink has become the #1 book distributor in the U.S. by doubling its annual sales to over $1 billion through the distribution of 300 million books per year to over 70,000 store locations nationwide. Readerlink ships via its extensive logistics network of 6 national distribution facilities totaling 50 acres of building capacity. Readerlink also publishes under the name Printers Row Publishing Group with four unique imprints: Canterbury Classics, Portable Press, Silver Dolphin Books, Thunder Bay Press and Dreamtivity. The diversity of these imprints allows PRPG to develop and expand on book industry trends in both the juvenile and adult book genres. Readerlink HQ is in Oak Brook, Illinois with its publishing HQ in San Diego CA. Summary: Plans, organizes, and monitors employees to achieve stated production goals at the desired level outlined by the Operations Manager. Monday - Friday 3:00PM-11:30PM Starting Salary $60K+ depending on experience and education Essential Functions: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:
    • Demonstrate the ability to lead people and get results through others.
    • Plan ahead and prepare action plans to achieve results.
    • Conduct employee performance reviews and discipline.
    • Develop a positive work environment.
    • Ensures shipping, receiving, storage, distribution and production are performed in an efficient manner.
    • Makes employee decisions including interview, selection and retention of employees.
    • Conduct employee training, career counseling, and development.
    • Continually review production requirements and assign employees to the correct work area.
    • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.
    • Resolves employee issues through problem solving.
    • Measures and maintains accuracy of inventory.
    • Manages multiple problems.
    • Coordinate daily workflow with other management personnel.
    • Performs accident and near miss investigations.
    • Conduct employee team meetings.
    • All operations supervisors are expected to be available to work in all areas of the operation.
    • Promotes accurate, timely communication up and down the organization to ensure priority issues are addressed.
    • Sets an example to co-workers.
    • Coordinate daily workflow with other warehouse personnel.
    • Ensures the work areas are appropriately maintained and correct any unsafe conditions immediately.
    Non-Essential Functions:
    • Other duties may be assigned, directed or requested
    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Minimum of 3 years warehouse experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
    • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Must be able to work flexible schedules as required which may include working off shifts and weekends.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Proficiency in English and Spanish oral and written communication
    • At least 1 year experience utilizing a warehouse management system
    Physical Requirements:The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
    • Must be able to stand up to 10 hours in a day.
    • Must be able to walk up to 8 hours.
    • Will continuously reach up and out.
    • Will occasionally climb.
    • Will occasionally push/pull from 11-25 pounds.
    • Will frequently bend, stoop, reach up and out, crouch, kneel, and push/pull from 36-50 pounds.
    • Will frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
    • Will occasionally have repetitive foot movement.
    • Will frequently have repetitive hand/arm movements for simple reaching, simple and firm grasping and/or fine hand manipulation.
    • Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Regularly required to stand; use hand to finger, handle or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms.
    • Must be able to wear gloves occasionally.
    Language Skills:
    • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to speak with all levels of the organization
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Be able to write routine reports
    Mathematical Skills:
    • Must be proficient in mathematics.
    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
    • Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance
    Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
    Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    • The work performed is in a warehouse environment
    • The employee is frequently exposed to vibrations and dust and will be working around moving machinery
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at low decibels
