Job description

ASSOCIATE SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Mesh Optical Technologies was founded on the belief that optical photons will be at the center of advanced technologies in the coming century. Making advanced technology ubiquitous means building at scale, and that's exactly what we're doing at Mesh.

Our interns and co-ops are embedded in the engineering team and own real work-not side projects. We are seeking an Associate Software Engineer to contribute directly to the codebase that operates both our optical interconnect product and factory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with your mentor to implement and test bare-metal drivers for IC, SPI, ADC, DMA, and other interfaces
  • Assist in node bring-up from power-on to firmware load, capturing boot logs and helping debug hardware-software interactions in the lab
  • Gain experience designing and implementing algorithms for link optimization and per-unit calibration in C++ and Python
  • Come up with new software-enabled ways to automatically validate device operation and production processes

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a GPA of 3.5 or greater
  • Portfolio of hands-on projects with a hardware element: embedded firmware, robotics, signal-processing, etc. for Formula SAE, SolarCar, Robotics, CubeSats, or other club/personal builds. Portfolios of software-only projects will not be considered.
  • Exposure to IC, SPI, ADC sampling, or similar protocols, and a curiosity for low-level hardware interfaces
  • Proficient in Python and C or C++ and comfort working in a Linux environment
  • Strong analytical mindset, first-principles problem solving, and clear communication

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Your projects demonstrate not just software engineering aptitude but also multidisciplinary knowledge of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering concepts

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Associate Software Engineer: $26.00 - $38.00/per hour

Base salary is determined based your academic year. In addition to base salary, compensation for this role includes a flexible monthly housing and transportation stipend during your time in Los Angeles.
