Job Summary
The Associate Technology Engineer is a direct report to the Senior Technology Engineer in the IT Utility Technologies department. U nderstanding of business goals, business processes, technology expertise in one or more domains, technology solution design and implementation. Involved in the full technology life cycle and responsible for designing, coding, configuring, testing, implementing and supporting software applications. Works closely with business analysts and product owners to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of technical solutions. May be assigned to either implementation or support functions. Implementation involves creating new technology-based solutions whereas support involves upgrades, maintenance or issue resolution of existing applications.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities are:
Analyzes end-user needs and perform design, configuration, development and testing of technology solutions to satisfy business demand.
Partners with business analysts to translate business requirements to technology solutions.
Evaluates existing technology solutions and platforms, provides recommendations for improving technology performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in scoping of system modifications.
Collaborates with stakeholders such as solution architects, application developers, cybersecurity and infrastructure engineers to integrate applications and hardware.
Ensures that technology design and implementation meets security and QA standards. Recommends fixes to application defects by doing a thorough analysis of root cause and impact of such defects.
Provides technical support for resolution of escalated support tickets. Applies operation break fixes and performs other proactive maintenance activities until permanent solutions can be implemented. Supports and participates in the solution deployment process for new functionality/ subsystems/modules, upgrades, updates and fixes to the production environment.
Makes solutions production-ready by following the standard change management processes, completing required forms, following procedures, completing version control documents, etc.
Specific responsibilities include:

Collaborates with stakeholders such as enterprise architects, software developers, operations, cybersecurity and infrastructure to integrate applications and hardware.
Ensures that design and technical specifications meet best practices, security and QA standards. Recommends fixes for application defects by performing root cause and impact analysis.
Provides technical support for resolution of escalated support tickets. Applies operation break fixes and performs proactive maintenance activities until permanent solutions can be implemented.
Makes solutions production-ready by following the prescribed change management processes, completing required approval forms, following procedures, updating run-books, etc.
Supports and participates in code deployment process for new application features, enhancements, system upgrades, and bug fixes.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of experience in analysis of end-user needs, professional technology solution engineering and development
Demonstrated technology solution ownership and adoption, projects or other work experiences.
Demonstrated track record of implementing technology solutions using structured methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
Required Competencies:
Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of technology solutions, preferably related to work management applications.
Experience in development of reporting solutions using ETL tools, SQL, Data Warehouse, etc.
Experience with production support of mission critical technology solutions
Experience documenting technical solutions and system process flows using applicable methods such as Use Case Diagrams, Activity Diagrams, Program Logical Flows, etc.
Demonstrated understanding of technology projects from the perspective of business user, cyber security and technology day-to-day operations.
Strong analytical ability, excellent problem solving skills, and ability to learn new technical concepts.
Strong oral and written communication skills, and good facilitation skills to foster working relationships with client departments, cross-functional IT teams and software service providers
Understanding of technology architecture, technology platforms and ability to explain technical concepts to the business users in the context of business requirements.
