Job Overview:
Build a Career That Moves You - Now Hiring Skilled Road Laborers in Houston, TX!
Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking Skilled Road Laborers to join our growing team in the Houston area. This is your chance to be part of high-impact infrastructure projects that shape the future of our communities.
As a Road Laborer, you'll take on a variety of physical, hands-on tasks-including lifting, moving materials, and supporting crews across different job sites. You'll work outdoors in all weather conditions, playing a key role in getting the job done right. From one task to the next, your versatility and strong work ethic will make you a valuable part of the team.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Perform various manual duties, usually working in a utility capacity by transferring from one project to another or from one task to another, where demands require the assistance of workmen with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
  • Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, stretch tight lines, and salvage lumber grade stacks for reuse.
  • Level earth to fine-grade specifications using a shovel to support pipe laying, subgrade preparation, and other excavation activities.
  • Direct laborers in placing concrete into forms.
  • Erect shoring and braces, and apply sealing compound to pipe joints.
  • Assist in the installation of pumps and well-points.
  • Support heavy equipment operators by helping align and move machinery (e.g., cranes, power shovels, backhoes), verifying grades, and signaling adjustments.
  • Direct truck drivers and scraper operators to dumping locations to maintain grade per the Grading or Dumping Foreman's instructions.
  • Work on concrete paving crews, adjusting or adding concrete in front of finishing machines to ensure proper grade.
  • May serve as a lead worker on labor crews when needed.
  • Use independent judgment to plan and execute routine tasks, often taking responsibility for multiple phases of work with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (assistance recommended for heavier loads).
  • Work extended hours on foot, including on uneven or rough surfaces.
  • Climb ladders, kneel, crawl, or work at heights and in confined spaces.

WORK ENVIROMENT
  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site:
    • Uneven ground level
    • Obstructed pathways
    • Work performed at low and/or high elevations
    • Work performed in confined areas
  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site:
