Job Description: Lead Machinist | Coopersville, MI Salary Range: $62,000 - $92,000 depending on experience Are you a skilled professional with a passion for excelling in lead machinist? If there is alignment now or in the near future, we reach out. The Opportunity We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Coopersville that are seeking skilled Lead Machinists. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively.   • Supervise and mentor a team of machinists, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
  • Program, set up, and operate advanced CNC machinery and conventional machine tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex machining issues and implement effective solutions to optimize production.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, CAD models, and specifications to ensure accurate part fabrication.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all machining equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and product design.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure manufactured parts meet specified tolerances and standards.
Recommended Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience leading a team, including task delegation and performance coaching
  • Expertise in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (mills, lathes)
  • Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting machining issues and optimizing processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and reporting
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation
  • Certification in a specialized machining technique (e.g., EDM, laser cutting)
  • Proven ability to mentor junior machinists and contribute to skill development
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
