    Primary Objective:
    Leads team and performs a variety of mechanical and basic electrical tasks to safely maintain and support facility equipment, machinery, and systems.
    Major Function and Scope:
    • Complies with all company safety rules and procedures. Ensures that all team members are in compliance as well.
    • Conducts Start of Shift Safety Stand Downs detailing all planned activities and risks associated with planned work.
    • Takes the lead on training and developing new employees.
    • Performs and documents preventive maintenance and inspections on plant equipment.
    • Schedules services and inspections by contractors and state inspectors
    • Inspects work to verify accuracy and workmanship.
    • Assist with delegating work orders and setting priority.
    • Enters SAP request for purchasing.
    • Services and repairs plant HVAC equipment, including air-handlers, chillers, fans, etc.
    • Performs welding and light metal fabrication tasks, including basic operation of machining equipment, such as lathes, milling-machines, drill-press, etc.
    • Performs basic pipe-fitting tasks, including cutting, threading, and installing steel piping.
    • Maintains and services air compressors and air dryers up to 300 HP.
    • Maintains and services natural gas fired thermal oil boiler and pumps.
    • Maintains and services loading dock equipment, including doors, dock levelers, dock locks, etc.
    • Reads mechanical blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings and documentation as needed to perform troubleshooting, repair, and project duties.
    • Maintains, services, and tests sprinkler systems (wet, dry, and antifreeze) and Flamex spark detection/extinguishment systems. Performs maintenance and repairs on dust collection systems and equipment.
    • Responds during off hours, including weekends, as needed to address emergency breakdowns of facilities equipment and systems.
    • Comes in to work early during ice and snow to assist with spreading ice-melt on walk paths and parking lot.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Type of Experience and Knowledge:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Associate degree in industrial maintenance or related area preferred.
    • Hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, HVAC, electrical, or other certifications preferred.
    • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role.
    • 5+ years of experience in construction and/or maintenance of manufacturing facilities.
    • Exceptional attention to detail; above average math skills
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a must.
    • Able to safely work at heights of up to 50 feet and in confined spaces.
    • Plumbing/piping, welding skills, certification a plus
    • Pump, fan, alignment experience
    • Computer skills (typing, using internet to research parts, read and respond to email)
    • Basic electrical repair/installation/troubleshooting experience
    • Basic forklift maintenance experience, practical experience and theoretical understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics
    • Must have a wide range of mechanical experience dealing with aligning pulleys, belts, chain, gearboxes, replacing high precision bearings, replacing seals, etc.
    • Experience in HVAC, boilers, compressors, buildings, etc.
    • Good organizational, communication and personal skills
    • Machinist experience a plus
    • Must have a valid NC driver's license and clean driving record.
    • Must be able to work during off hours as needed, and during inclement weather.
    • Must be able to work well with other team members.

    Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information:
    • This position requires the team member to work with machinery in an environment where there may be regular exposure to noise from machinery, dust, fumes and extreme temperatures.
    • Other working conditions may include working long hours and flexible shifts, including holidays
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs.; bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs are required.
