Job description

Job Summary:
If you thrive on winning new business and closing complex, high-value deals, you'll feel at home at Lockton.
As a Placement Strategist within Private Risk Solutions, you are at the center of the deal. You partner with Producers, carriers, and clients to shape placement strategy, navigate complexity, and deliver exceptional outcomes.
This role is equal parts technical expertise, relationship management, and deal leadership. Success requires deep market knowledge, strong carrier partnerships, a consultative mindset, ability to deeply understand client needs, and the confidence to lead a consultive process that moves the opportunities from initial discovery through binding.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities, insurance expertise, negotiation skills, and a client-first mentality to consistently drive winning outcomes.
You Might Be a Fit If You...
• Naturally move opportunities forward and focus on outcomes rather than activity
• Thrive in complexity and can translate client needs into effective market strategy
• Build credibility quickly with Producers, prospects, and carrier partners
• Approach opportunities with curiosity, asking the right questions that uncover underlying client risks and priorities
• Are energized by negotiation and confident advocating for the best client outcome
• Can bring alignment across multiple stakeholders and keep momentum through the finish line
• Enjoy working independently while collaborating across teams
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the strategic lead on new business opportunities, partnering closely with Producers to position and win complex high-net-worth placements
• Lead a disciplined discovery process to understand client exposures, priorities, and risk management objectives
• Analyze complex insurance programs and identify opportunities to improve coverage, pricing, and overall program structure
• Serve as the strategic lead in designing and executing market strategy that maximize coverage solutions and competitive positioning for clients
• Anticipate obstacles early and proactively problem-solve to keep deals moving forward
• Build and maintain strong trusted relationships with carrier partners, leveraging those relationships to create alignment and drive competitive outcomes
• Own carrier engagement from initial marketing through final negotiations, advocating for best-in-class terms and coverage
• Conduct underwriting reviews and risk assessments to support placement strategy and carrier engagement
• Navigate and negotiate complex underwriting conversations, balancing client needs with carrier perspectives to reach optimal solutions
• Negotiate coverage, pricing, and program structure while balancing client needs and carrier requirements
• Own the development of client-facing proposals by evaluating carrier offerings, coverage terms, pricing, and underwriting considerations, and translating complex market information into clear, strategic recommendations that support Producers in client presentations and decision-making
• Facilitate a consultative selling process by helping producers articulate strategy, differentiate Lockton's value, and confidently guide clients to decisions
• Present clear, compelling placement recommendations that simplify decision-making and support successful close
• Drive accountability and urgency throughout the placement lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of quotes, revisions, and final binding
• Maintain a strong pulse on the high-net-worth and non-admitted marketplace, bringing forward insights that strengthen positioning and outcomes
• Utilize agency management systems and placement tools to track opportunities and maintain accurate documentation
• Ensure organized and seamless transitions of new business to service teams through thoughtful handoffs and comprehensive documentation
Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in high-net-worth personal insurance placement, underwriting, or related brokerage roles
• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
• Property & Casualty Insurance License preferred; required within 60 days of employment.
• Professional designations such as CIC, CPRM, CISR, CPRIA, or equivalent industry certifications preferred
• Experience working with both admitted and excess & surplus lines markets
• Demonstrated success supporting new business growth and complex client placements
