Job description

Job Description: Physical Security Systems Engineer

Location: Austin, TX (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Physical Security Systems Engineer (Junior to Mid-Level) to support, maintain, and optimize enterprise physical security systems. This role involves working with access control platforms, video management systems (VMS), SQL databases, and internal integrations, while ensuring system uptime, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Lenel OnGuard access control systems and integrated subsystems
  • Support enterprise Video Management Systems (VMS) such as Milestone, Genetec, or Avigilon
  • Monitor and optimize SQL databases, ensuring data integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Perform system health checks and ensure high availability of supported systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user issues, tickets, and escalations in a timely manner
  • Support internal applications and system integrations across platforms
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support
  • Collaborate with IT teams on servers, networking, and infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and user guides
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI or scripting tools
  • Support system upgrades, patching, integrations, and compliance activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 1–4 years of experience in physical security systems or IT support
  • Hands-on experience with Lenel OnGuard (certification required)
  • Experience with Video Management Systems (VMS) (Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (queries, database management)
  • Understanding of system administration, networking, and cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer support skills
  • Self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud or hybrid security platforms
  • Scripting/automation using PowerShell or Python
  • Exposure to AI-driven automation tools
