    Overview

    Come join Intuit as a Principal Software Engineer! We're constantly evolving to deliver on our mission to power prosperity around the world. As a Principal Engineer, you'll shape Intuit's long-term technical direction. You'll anticipate problems that need new solutions, lead the conversion of existing systems to AI-native, and drive decisions that span business units. You bring deep software engineering craft alongside strong applied AI experience. Intuit is a global technology platform that helps consumers and small businesses overcome their most important financial challenges.


    Responsibilities

    • Anticipate challenges that need fundamentally new solutions and shape Intuit's long-term technical direction

    • Design scalable, resilient, and adaptive systems that unlock innovation, velocity, and value

    • Recognize where AI applies within complex systems and lead the conversion of existing systems to AI-native architectures

    • Make tradeoffs across AI techniques and algorithm choices to ship reliable, production-grade software

    • Identify, champion, and integrate industry-leading or new technologies that create competitive advantage

    • Set engineering standards for quality, security, and maintainability that others adopt

    • Align stakeholders across teams and business units; drive execution and unblock delivery

    • Coach technical leaders; advise senior leadership on team structure and engineering practices


    Qualifications

    • 12+ years developing systems and software for large scale business environments

    • 8+ years designing complex distributed systems, platforms, or business applications

    • Hands-on experience integrating AI into production software, ideally driving AI projects standalone with commoditized AI tools and agentic workflows.  

    • Experience modernizing systems toward AI-native patterns; experience driving AI architectural decisions across multiple teams a plus

    • Full-stack experience with modern AI/ML platforms (Vertex AI, SageMaker, Bedrock), LLM APIs, agent orchestration frameworks, vector databases, and Python. 

    • Depth in at least one of:

      • Front-end: React, Angular, SwiftUI (iOS), Kotlin (Android)

      • Back-end: Java, TypeScript, Spring, Node.js

    • Production experience in AWS or GCP

    • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred

    • Track record of influencing technical strategy across business units and aligning executives

    • Strong mentor; able to develop technical leaders and shape engineering culture

    • Excellent communicator; makes decisive technical calls in ambiguity

    • Drives results across cross-functional, globally distributed teams

Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender.

    The expected base pay range for this position is:
    Mountain View $261,500 - $353,500
