Job Description
Sets up and operates horizontal, multi-axis, and vertical numerical control (CNC) machines to perform precision machining operations including contouring, boring, helical and spiral milling, serrating, gear cutting, spline cutting, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns specialized machine attachments and tooling, determines machine setups, and monitors machining operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC machining equipment and automated manufacturing systems.
Perform precision machining operations to engineering specifications and tolerances.
Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, and machine attachments.
Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings.
Determine and monitor machine speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters.
Utilize machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Perform quality inspections and verify conformance to specifications.
Monitor automated systems, robotic assembly lines, and conveyor networks using HMIs and computer-controlled interfaces.
Maintain production records, machine downtime logs, and performance metrics.
Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with 6+ months of related education and/or machining experience.
Experience with CNC machining and robotics.
Experience using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, preset torque tools, inspection gauges, and dial indicators.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Ability to work a 3/10 schedule and second shift.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal CNC Machining Certificate.
Experience working in a manufacturing or automated production environment.
Knowledge of quality control and inspection processes.
Education / Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent and typically 6+ months of related education and/or machining experience.
