    Job description

    Civil Project Designer | Idaho Falls, ID
    IMEG is hiring a Civil Project Designer in Idaho Falls, ID, to lead civil design efforts for low- to moderate-complexity projects while collaborating with senior staff on larger, high-complexity work. You'll provide engineering solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes through civil engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight-while working within project budgets and IMEG standards. This position is new for the location but supports an already successfully established IMEG team, with the opportunity to support current clients while helping grow new work and expand the regional team.
    Principal Responsibilities
    • Direct and train Civil Design Technicians to support delivery of reports, exhibits, plans and specifications, and permit applications per contractual scope

    • Prepare grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans

    • Lead design efforts for civil engineering analysis, including developing designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards

    • Utilize engineering software and tools to produce project deliverables

    • Partner with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information effectively while building and maintaining client relationships

    • Support project execution by leading efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives

    • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring design progress related to percent complete and fee expended

    • Analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient approaches

    • Perform in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure design quality and compliance with standards

    • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, including interpreting state and local design criteria and applying it to project needs

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions, identify potential project problems, and seek advice from the Project Manager as needed

    Required Qualifications and Skills
    • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

    • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required, PE license preferred

    • 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR

    • Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools, primarily Civil 3D

    • Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors

    • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

    • Strong training and mentoring skills

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

    • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges

    • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

    • Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
