Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior COBOL Developer for a 12+ month contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Plano, TX.

This role is focused on providing production support for critical mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for incident management, problem resolution, and operational readiness, utilizing advanced programming and troubleshooting skills on IBM mainframe systems to ensure stability and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Manage problems/incidents, operational readiness, application monitoring, and service analytics
• Take ownership of escalations and perform troubleshooting, analysis, research, and resolution using advanced query and programming skills
• Contribute proactively to problem management and root cause analysis
• Solve production down situations under strict SLA deadlines
• Coordinate with offshore/onshore teams and delegate work
• Identify, escalate, and address project issues and risks

Requirements:

• 8+ years of hands-on developer experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, IMS DB/DC, MQ Series, and Easytrieve
• Experience in Production Support, change management, and using incident management tools
• Proficiency with IBM problem determination tools such as File Manager and Fault Analyzer
• Experience with Endeavor, TSO, MarkIV, TWS, and CA7
• Knowledge of transmission protocols (NDM, FTP), APIs, and MQ
• Experience with SQL Database query language
• Familiarity with Splunk or other monitoring tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage stakeholders across various groups and locations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired skills:

• Exposure to REXX
• Experience with the banking or financial industry

Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
