Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ, Charlotte, NC or Plano, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role is responsible for hands-on application development to support current and target processes. The ideal candidate will partner with multiple technology teams to implement the target architecture and migrate to a strategic platform, working extensively with big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark.

Responsibilities:

• Perform hands-on application development to support current and target processes
• Partner with multiple Technology teams to implement the target architecture and migration to the strategic platform
• Ingest and incorporate new sources of real-time, streaming, batch, and API-based data into the platform
• Load and manage large data sets in Hadoop
• Compute complex logic in Spark platforms
• Optimize data pipelines and queries for better performance and scalability
• Identify and resolve complex data engineering issues

Requirements:

• 9+ years of experience in end-to-end Java application development
• Strong core Java skills including multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC
• Experience with frameworks like Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate
• Strong computer science fundamentals in design, data structures, and algorithms
• Knowledge of performance tuning data-intensive applications, including performance profiling, memory optimizations, and identifying improvements
• Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data integration and transformation tools
• Strong knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks, such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hive, or Apache Flink
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Leadership and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication skills
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or any quantitative discipline

Desired skills:

• Background in enterprise stress testing
• Knowledge of risk (credit, operational, and market)
• Knowledge of cloud computing or distributed computing
• 5+ years of experience in Java UI technologies (HTML5, Angular JS, Backbone JS, Bootstrap, etc.)
• Experience with software development in an Agile environment

Pay range: $58.26 - $66.26 per hour
