Senior Structural Engineer
Location: Regional Ohio offices
Employment Type: Full-Time
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together—our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Senior Structural Engineer to help us keep building.
Working with our Structural team, you will work with several multidisciplinary professionals on a variety of different projects.
What You’ll Do
  • Plan, analyze, and design structural systems for buildings and other structures using materials such as structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, prestressed concrete, and wood/timber systems.
  • Collaborate with Structural department staff to conceptualize economical structural systems suited to a variety of project types.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, and specifications consistent with applicable building codes and standards.
  • Communicate with external clients and internal teams regarding project scope, schedule, and expectations for deliverables.
  • Provide project coordination support including assisting with project schedules, deliverable tracking, and team communication.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across Fishbeck offices.
  • Assist in preparing project proposals, scope documents, and fee estimates with technical staff and potential teaming partners.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • Approximately 8–12 years of structural engineering consulting experience.
  • Experience designing structures using applicable codes including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318.
  • Familiarity with structural modeling in a BIM environment (preferably Revit).
  • Experience using analytical/design software such as RISA, RAM, or Tedds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting both technical and coordination responsibilities.
What We Offer
Our staff members enjoy a comprehensive compensation package that includes:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Wellness reimbursement and activities
  • Reimbursement and support for tuition, continuing education, and professional/personal development
  • Vacation and sick time, volunteer PTO, parental leave, and paid holidays
  • Opportunities for hybrid and flexible schedules
  • 401(k), profit sharing, and stock ownership opportunities (employee ownership)
  • And more!
We are an equal-opportunity employer that is committed to diversity. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.
