    Job description

    Job Brief:

    The DeltaV Programmer provides technical expertise in the design, configuration, programming, testing, commissioning, and support of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for industrial clients. This role is primarily focused on Emerson DeltaV environments and associated control systems. The successful candidate will support projects throughout all phases, including design, development, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and ongoing operational support.

    The DeltaV Programmer works closely with clients, engineers, project managers, operations personnel, and field technicians to develop reliable, efficient, and maintainable process control solutions for industrial facilities.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Develop, configure, and maintain Emerson DeltaV control strategies and system architecture. 
    • Design and implement continuous, batch, sequential, and advanced process control applications within the DeltaV environment. 
    • Configure DeltaV controllers, I/O subsystems, workstations, servers, and network infrastructure. 
    • Develop and maintain DeltaV operator graphics, alarm management strategies, trends, event chronologies, and historian integrations. 
    • Create and implement control narratives, functional design specifications, cause-and-effect matrices, and batch documentation. 
    • Perform DCS software testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities. 
    • Troubleshoot and optimize existing DeltaV systems to improve reliability, safety, and process performance. 
    • Configure and integrate third-party PLCs, analyzers, package equipment, SIS systems, and field instrumentation. 
    • Support migration projects involving legacy control systems and DeltaV upgrades. 
    • Assist with cybersecurity implementation and industrial network architecture development. 
    • Generate and maintain complete project documentation, including operating procedures, architecture drawings, and as-built documentation. 
    • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance personnel during startups and routine facility operations. 
    • Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, and execution activities. 
    • Participate and comply with company safety programs and company policies.

     Required Skills/Qualifications:

    • Diploma or degree in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum 5 years of industrial automation experience with at least 3 years working directly with Emerson DeltaV systems.

    • Familiarity with ISA-88, ISA-95, ISA-18.2, and IEC 62443 standards considered an asset.
    • Standard First Aid/CPR with AED and H2S Alive.
    • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
    • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
    • Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
