Summary
The Electrical Hardware Engineer works with cross-functional teams including other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership to ensure robust and high-quality product development. They enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design, and simulations. They also provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system they have designed.
The Electrical Hardware Engineer develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. They research system ideas, create architectures for these systems, and then capture them in schematics and system specifications. They test, simulate, validate, and qualify their systems, making adjustments as needed.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Design and develop technical solutions without assistance in a limited number of technical fields supporting common segments/technologies. May also solve complex problems in cooperation with a team of other engineers.
  • Represent the engineering team in technical customer meetings and project reviews.
  • Research systems ideas and draw up plans for these systems.
  • Design, modify, and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.
  • Create designs in line with Celestica's procedures, regulations, and customer standards.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
  • Solve complex problems.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.

Electrical:
  • Creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data and information.
  • Creating reports and documentation.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Working knowledge of PCB design tools (Cadence Allegro 16.x & 17.x).
  • Experience on Valor Trilogy 5000/NPI is preferred.
  • Familiar with high-density PCB design.
  • Working knowledge of setting and complying with board and trace constraints.
  • Working knowledge of PCB & PCBA manufacturing process along industry and quality standards; knowledge of IPC standards is preferred.
  • Familiar with EMC & EMI layout requirements.
  • Able to summarize the layout requirements from the customer's requirements.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing assignments in a dynamic environment and aggressive schedule, while meeting complex design requirements.

Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Experience
  • 3+ years experience in Electrical Engineering.

Typical Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
