    Job description

    Aon is looking for a Director – Employee Rewards  

    Boston, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Denver, San Francisco or near any major Aon office 

    Rewards & Workforce Advisory, a unit of Aon’s Human Capital Solutions practice, is seeking a Compensation Consulting Director to help accelerate growth and client impact within the Employee Rewards advisory practice. This role will advise clients that participate in the Radford McLagan Compensation Database (RMCD), bringing deep knowledge of compensation data, job architecture, market benchmarking, and rewards consulting across technology, life sciences, financial services, manufacturing, retail, energy, and related industries. 

    The ideal candidate is a creative, commercially minded problem solver with compensation consulting experience, strong analytical judgment, clear executive communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. 

    In this role, you will lead complex client engagements, guide teams in developing high-quality solutions, and strengthen the technical and consulting capabilities of colleagues in areas such as job architecture, job leveling, pay transparency, and pay program design.

    What the day will look like

    • Lead and oversee multiple compensation consulting projects, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. 
    • Guide teams in applying existing tools and templates while developing new models, analyses, and deliverables that improve client insight and execution quality. 
    • Connect project objectives, findings, and recommendations to the client’s broader business context, including operating priorities, resource constraints, talent issues, and HR strategy. 
    • Build trusted advisory relationships with senior client stakeholders and translate complex compensation topics into practical, decision-ready recommendations. 
    • Participate in sales and business development activities as appropriate based on experience, with many Directors progressing toward annual revenue targets as their client relationships and commercial responsibilities expand. 
    • Contribute to Human Capital Solutions intellectual capital and support the development of firm capabilities, offerings, training, and market-facing solutions. 
    • Promote a positive, productive, and engaged Human Capital Solutions culture by helping team members deliver high-quality work, build client relationships, and achieve practice and project goals.
    • Provide regular coaching, guidance, and developmental feedback to junior colleagues. 
    • This role offers the opportunity to expand Aon’s external presence, advance internal AI-enabled tools, and help shape the future of the Employee Rewards practice.   

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

    • A minimum of 10 years of relevant compensation, rewards, or human capital consulting experience, with demonstrated career progression. 
    • Familiarity with the Radford McLagan Compensation Database (RMCD), including how compensation data can inform consulting insights and client recommendations. 
    • Strong hands-on project management experience, with proactive, transparent communication and the ability to manage partners effectively. 
    • Ability to convert complex data into clear insights, identify results that warrant further review, and articulate the “so what” for clients and internal teams. 
    • Strong top-down analytical skills, pattern recognition, and inductive reasoning, with the ability to connect findings across data, business context, and client priorities. 
    • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, including the ability to build complex, interactive models and develop executive-ready client deliverables. 
    • Ability to translate complex subject matter for varied audiences, from technical project teams to senior client partners. 
    • Strong consultative skills, including relationship building, facilitation, process leadership, and experience working effectively with diverse teams. 
    • Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize various priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines.

    Education 

    • A bachelor’s degree is required. 
    • A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

    Pay Transparency Laws:

     

    The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $150,000 - $200,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.  The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

    This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary.  The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
