The calibration engineer, also referred to as a metrology engineer or calibration technician in the industry, calibrates electrical, dimensional, and physical or mechanical equipment, maintains primary calibration standards, and upholds the quality system that governs the calibration laboratory. This position is available at the Calibration Engineer and Senior Calibration Engineer levels, with placement determined by experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage calibration instructions to reduce reliance on external calibration services.
  • Prepare calibration reports and certificates, and generate corrective action reports for non-conforming equipment.
  • Train and educate team members on calibration principles and practices.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Maintain equipment calibration and compliance across electrical, dimensional, and physical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Identify conditions that fall outside acceptable tolerance levels and resolve them before they affect quality.
  • Strengthen the calibration department through sound quality systems and clear calibration instructions.
  • Advance calibration techniques and fixtures through applied engineering expertise.
  • Support cross-functional research and development work through strong collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Reduce dependence on external calibration services through effective internal instruction development.

Position Requirements

  • Ability to design and develop calibration techniques, fixtures, and instructions
  • Strong written communication skills for preparing calibration reports, certificates, and corrective action reports
  • Ability to train and educate team members on calibration principles and practices
  • Strong collaboration skills to work across engineering, automation, energy, and maintenance departments

Preferred

The Following Skills and Attributes Are Preferred

  • Experience examining and assessing new calibration standards before laboratory approval
  • Experience supporting system improvements that reduce reliance on external calibration services

  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Training and mentorship opportunities.
  • On-campus wellness activities.
  • Education reimbursement program.
  • 401(k) program with discretionary employer match.
  • Generous vacation accrual and paid holiday schedule.

Please note that the compensation range may be adjusted in the future, and bonus and incentive compensation plans may apply.
